I worked at Family Dollar Stores part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Relationship with the whole staff was great, getting paid every week,

    Cons

No discounts at Family Dollar Period. Sometimes it's hard to complete freight or stock items while being on the register when customers are consistently coming to the register. When the line is long the ASM or Store manger takes their time to come as people become more impatient. It's frustrating recovering the store when Customers are still present because they mess up the section you are recovering and having you go back and redo everything all over again whether it's recovering the food section, shoes, clothes, home appliances, etc. Another downside to working at family dollar is inconsistent hours and the manger i had told me you get the upmost hours based off of sales, and performance. I normally aim for 30+ hrs .

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with the same respect you'd give to a customer, move up the minimum hourly from $7.25 to something higher at least $8. Give an employee discount.

I have been working at Family Dollar Stores full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family Dollar offers competitive pay for store managers. Great tools to help make sales, achieve bonuses and deter shrink. Lots of growth potential! It is neighborhood based so you really get to know your customers.

    Cons

Locations where they are strategically placed are low income neighborhoods which ultimately means high theft and a hand full of rude customers.

    Advice to Management

If you're new in management welcome, if you're more experienced look elsewhere.
