I worked at Family Fare part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I had a good team, felt very welcome and endless opportunities to pick out ours beyond what I was hired in for.

    Cons

My night manager wasn't very good with people and it caused a struggle because he couldn't communicate to train me properly and instead of helping me correct my mistakes and improving my performance, I struggled.

    Advice to Management

Make sure training is happening properly. I was lucky I could catch on fast, but others are not so lucky.

I have been working at Family Fare full-time

    Pros

Great team, co-workers generally get along well and work as a team.

    Cons

Starting minimum wage pay not attractive for most part-time employees. Management pay isn't much better, our seafood manager made $9.50 an hr.

Always short staffed, which causes current employees to burn-out quickly often times needing to skip lunches and breaks in order to meet demands of supervisors.

In certain departments bottled water is prohibited.

If you want to work part-time hours 15-25 a week, expect to work mostly full-time hours for most weeks except for one within the 6 weeks so they don't have to offer you benefits. This is all due to low-staff levels.

    Advice to Management

Retail employees are the end interaction with the customer, respect and take care of the people that work hard and make sacrifices to provide the level of customer service needed to continue to build great customer relations and repeat customers.

I worked at Family Fare (Less than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed working at Family Fare. The work wasn't very difficult and the managers really helped you to understand how you could do better and how to fit in with the culture.

    Cons

Occasionally some customers would make me very uncomfortable. As a female, it was mostly older male customers. The only thing I could really do was shrug it off and ignore them.
