I worked at Family Heritage Life Insurance as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Unlimited potential to grow financially and personally.

Fun company trips every 6 months. Additional trips depending on your team.

Allowed me to change my life for the better.

    Cons

It's one of those opportunities that has no downside as a contractor other than you only get out what you put in. It may take time to build a business which is normal in any worthwhile enterprise (elon musk slept under his desk while building paypal).

    Advice to Management

Don't be greedy. People are your asset.

I worked at Family Heritage Life Insurance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very good to excellent training, depending on who recruits you and who trains you. Opportunity to make as much money as you want.

    Cons

It takes the right person to do this job. First month is very hard, you need a lot of repetition to feel comfortable with what you're doing.

    Advice to Management

I personally had a fantastic support team. But be careful, make sure you get a good trainer.

I have been working at Family Heritage Life Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Make your own hours. Your worth is up to you and no one else.

    Cons

No health benefits. When starting out the commission levels are low unless you have prior experience. Once you have obtained a year of experience it is easy to look for a different opportunity with better comission. They really should do more to help the new recruits.

    Advice to Management

Make sure the people who trained you continue to train you.

I worked at Family Heritage Life Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Super friendly, helpful, and was a great experience.

    Cons

Not enough opportunities to move up.

    Advice to Management

Just keep loving the employees, give them ability to move up and learn, create opportunities for people to cross train and see what they can do beyond what they were hired for.

    Pros

They offer great supplementary insurance with an outstanding compensation plan. The agent portal provides an easy way to navigate through your account and to access materials. Good training

    Cons

It would be nice to have an initial salary to help out in the beginning of an agents career. At least until they get f established. Also, if leads were provided, it would be a good way to transition without a salary.

    Advice to Management

Provide leads to agents in order to give them somewhere to go daily to get them into activity.

I worked at Family Heritage Life Insurance (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They care about their people, the training and knowledge you receive is applicable anywhere you go...in life or in Sales. Great incentives. You are in charge of your own schedule. Renewal income. Fun people to work with and grow your business around.

    Cons

Some people may not care for working door-to-door. A lot of driving daily, better markets to sell in tend to be rural or outside of metro-areas. You are a captive agent so you can't sell any other insurance products.

    Advice to Management

Overall I am happy I spent time working with FHL. I might be willing to sell again if I could be a non-captive agent.

    Pros

Tremendous culture and identity. Founder still active in day to day operations and meetings. Very experienced and tenured executive team from the President to the home office staff, which adds stability and consistentancy. Unlimited opportunity to grow and become a business owner for yourself but not by yourself.

    Cons

Licensing required, self study a must. Building a start up operation can be difficult depending on divisional and corporate resources available.

    Advice to Management

    Keep on keeping on!

    Pros

Unbelievable and life-changing products! Ability to write your own paycheck; building lasting relationships; excellent coaching and sales training

    Cons

This career works as long as you do. If you don't want to put in the 50+ hours a week starting out to be successful, you may want to look somewhere else.

    Advice to Management

Keep saving families and bettering the lives of everyone in the Family Heritage family! The products work and really do save families from financial devastation
