I worked at Family Mosaic (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wide range of care settings so varied experience. Also wide oprational area to choose from. Some managers are great. Most

    Cons

Poor relief team management.Favouritism.You can work for them for ages and you never get to hear of vacancies because they circulate them among their cronies.Shifts allocation also badly managed.

    Advice to Management

Better management of relief staff.Consider relief staff first for permanent positions. So demoralising when outsiders brought in when so many relief with no prospects of progression.

I have been working at Family Mosaic (More than a year)

    Pros

Family Mosaic Housing is driven from the top by individuals who are dedicated to helping others.

    Cons

Corporately the organisation looses sight of its own people in its drive to care for its customers. For example the recent decision to cut employee benefits to offset reductions in rent.

  7. "You get out what you put in"

    Pros

Friendly environment and a grassroots approach. Very diverse environment. Some good benefits and decent bonuses. Good career progression if you keep yourself focused.

    Cons

Take staff complaints seriously. Be more supportive of staff in terms of their experience of improper customer conduct. Politics rife in the organisation but I suppose it is only an issue if you pay attention.

    Advice to Management

Put a sign at the reception advising that improper behaviour towards staff will not be tolerated like most other organisations that deal with the public.

    Pros

Strong focus on what is in the interest of the client.
Principled approach to work, but ambitious with it.
    Keen to innovate.

    Cons

Bonus system is not very effective.
Quite strong departmental barriers, although improving in that respect.
    Ocasionally focuses on over-simplistic metrics.
