    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Family Service Agency San Francisco part-time

    Pros

    flexible work schedule, devoted colleagues

    Cons

most people use their flexible work schedules to go above and beyond- often not recognized. one clinic has especially toxic and punitive culture that is demeaning towards its employees - its program manager is a bully. another program manager is as chill and respectful as can be -- interview your potential bosses and don't take the gig if you feel something is off with the program director.

    Advice to Management

client care is first and foremost - your employees are working their tails off for their beloved clients! don't contribute to their burnout from FSA and even community mental health by being punitive or unappreciative. the high turnover rates will hurt you and the clients the MOST.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Family Service Agency San Francisco full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Management is flexible with time off. Work happens at work and they don't expect you to do more outside work hours. Each dept has their own culture and expectations and you can learn this from your interview (conducted by whomever you'd work with and for). Great place to build up your network in your field, in SF.

    Cons

Hard to grow in this company, non-profit style compensation.

I have been working at Family Service Agency San Francisco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-Great training opportunities -Evidence-based practices being taught -great accrual of sick and vacation time -flexibility of schedule

    Cons

-Poor management -poor communication between staff and management -low salary -high case load -No raises or bonuses

    Advice to Management

I would recommend management to make site visits to programs outside the SF office. I also would also create more accountability to program management.

I worked at Family Service Agency San Francisco full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Some really great people work at family service agency, including program directors and managers who really care. Legacy of helping SF's most vulnerable.

    Cons

Experienced layoffs and high turn over. Low pay for amount of work. Disorganization among management....probably mostly due to the agency trying to take on too much. Favoritism and mismanagement at core.

    Advice to Management

Slow down. Focus on the core things you do well. AND INVEST in your people. You've lost focus of this.

I worked at Family Service Agency San Francisco full-time

    Pros

Workload was reasonable. Decent work/life balance possible. Benefits not great but adequate. The CEO is a really nice guy. Lots of really decent, principled people work there.

    Cons

Salary was really lousy, even by non-profit standards. A couple guys up in senior management are pretty arrogant, talking over people continuously, making rude insinuations, assuming things without really knowing what they're talking about, etc - basically bullies in tidy suits. They act like you should be grateful for really measly pay, while they bring home six figures. At ground level, the place has a few incompetent/slacker...
