    Family Service Association Response

    January 17, 2019CEO

We are delighted by the vote of confidence for the agency and its new CEO who joined the organization on July 1, 2018. We have taken actual to raise vacation of non-exempt employees to that of exempt level employees and to boost the pay of front line supervisors and workers. After ...

I have been working at Family Service Association full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The pay is decent, the job is decent and the childcare and teachers are amazing. I would highly recommend if you were a parent wanting childcare. The teachers are amazing and very hands on. The coworkers make the job tolerable.

    Cons

The Administration staff have horrible attitudes. They are not team players and its every man for themselves. Do not rely on anyone's help. Do not expect anyone to be understanding in anyway. They are not there to help or guide you in any way and if you do not understand the task they will give you attitude and treat you poorly and talk behind your back to everyone possible about how poorly you are doing in their eyes....

    Advice to Management

Keep things confidential. Realize your staff is indeed human and could use a helping hand when tackling hard situations. Be more available to those who need to communicate with you. A kind attitude goes a long way.

I worked at Family Service Association part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most of the people in the company are GREAT! One of the reason I stood so long other than the children. The payoff financially wasn’t great but the job was very rewarding.

    Cons

Understaffed at times, Minimum wage for a high stress job. The Sites supervisor (K) was extremely rude and all coworkers seemed to say the same thing at all sites.

    Advice to Management

Show your employees you appreciate them a bit more.

    Former Employee - Clinician

I worked at Family Service Association full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are a variety of programs to participate in for professional development. Services are provided in a variety of clinical settings making experience more varied. Great colleagues provide a supportive and collaborative environment. Clinical supervision is provided.

    Cons

Training opportunities can be more difficult to access if you are not English/Spanish bilingual. Some were required to commute long distances to service sites (mileage was reimbursed) Company politics was tiresome sometimes. One could struggle to feel appreciated.

    Pros

Great team to work with. Very understanding, supportive, and friendly place to work at.

    Cons

The pay is low for case manager if you have no experience.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. There was more encouragement and support than micromanaging. It's a great place to work at. The downside is the case manager pay is low. Otherwise team work is on point.

I worked at Family Service Association full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This is a good organization to work at if you have no experience and just coming out of college and need "experience". You will definitely get the experience you are looking for with at the responsibilities you will be given that are somehow part of your job because in the description of your job duties there will be the statement "and other duties assigned".

    Cons

There is no organization within any of the programs. There is no leadership, you are on your own. Management does not care about your career goals or developing you. They will put a lot of pressure on you and try to pay you minimal. It is extremely difficult to get a raise. It does not matter how hard you work because that does not mean anything, you will not get rewarded for it. You are going to be on your own because...

    Advice to Management

You should really think about developing your staff and provide actual trainings. Send your staff to trainings and invest in them. Please look at the people you are hiring as managers and leadership make sure they are not just going to come to your organization and make a lot of changes without giving anyone a notice or getting to know the organization and what works for the organization. Treat your employees like human...
