    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Fantastic Sams full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I learned how to be a master colorist.

    Cons

Sometimes in the salon business you need to learn to just do you and some people can't do that they get jealous of things that you do or money or tips that you make off your clientele or say you can fix something if they messed up you lose your job over it cuz they've been there longer

I worked at Fantastic Sams full-time for less than a year

    Pros

nothing good at the location i was in.

    Cons

Had to buy own supplies constantly, would not receive compensation. Manger did not let you take breaks. Would have to work the store alone constantly, in the morning and especially as a closer. Routine maintenance was ignored. Forget about asking for days off, they'll schedule you even if you already asked for time off and not tell you if its granted. want to spend time with your family or need a specific day off, forget it, you work when they tell you and you have no other option. Owner doesn't care if you have family matters, you could have a family member pass and have to work the day of the funeral if you dont push to have that time. Two faced- they will act nice in the beginning just to get you to work there and then you'll never be treated with respect again. Constantly change the comission rates and dont tell you so they dont have to pay it. double check your taxes, they may not withhold the extra money you want for taxes that you put on your forms.

I have been working at Fantastic Sams part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some of the girls are nice, also you can get your hair done way cheaper, and good work experience to be in the workforce for hair

    Cons

Well one I worked there for 2 years and didn't get a raise. Secondly their management at the time treated people poorly, and yelled at them people on the floor in front of a full salon. Another reason is when u ask for certain days off u have to keep asking because not all the time will they give it to you or some excuse they try to pull and ect.

I worked at Fantastic Sams full-time

    Pros

There are some really great people that work at corporate but unfortunately they are bullied by those in leadership.

    Cons

The company is being run by people that have no clue what they are doing. The CEO is an attorney and was very hands off for a long time and does not know how to lead or inspire people. Franchisees are sold and the leaders know that they will not be successful. More salons close than they open. The business model is not set up for owners to make money. You have to own multiple locations in order to live off the profits and it takes years to build up your business before you even hit breakeven. The company does not fill positions if anyone leaves, they just pile the work on someone else.

Former Employee - Salon Manager in Springville, UT

I worked at Fantastic Sams full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Working for a franchise can give a work experience more of a personalized experience.

    Cons

Working for an inexperienced franchise can lead to frustration between business and personnel. Especially if the franchise is not an industry person but rather a business person. There will be a disconnect.
