I have been working at Fareway Stores part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

They are willing to work around your schedule if you are part-time.

You get to work with a variety of people with unique background. Usually equal parts college students and full-time employees.

Many of the managers are open to suggestions regarding the task at hand. This tendency is especially true if you have been marked as a hard worker.

The pace is comfortable outside of the holidays. When business picks up, the hustle is enjoyable for anyone who likes to be kept moving.

    Cons

A few managers practice favoritism independent independent from the work ethic of the employee.

While some managers revel in teaching employees new techniques, others seem to view it as a chore.

    Pros

    Great company and great people!
Pretty decent pay for a part-time easy job
    Student Scholarships available
Training program for management is supposedly one of the best in the industry

    Cons

    Heavy lifting and tough work
Hours were not always extremely flexible but most of the time even that was good

    Advice to Management

Keep helping employees advance and spend a little more time with your employees to ensure proper growth. Ask them what their goals are and help them achieve them whether it's within the company or not. Otherwise, keep up the great work and keep providing the best products in the country (my opinion).

I have been working at Fareway Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It is an overall easy job

    Cons

It is a dead end job. I am not able to excel into a better position because they just call in other managers from other areas instead.

    Advice to Management

Hands on training during interview process rather than videos

    Pros

The environment can be fast paced but I liked the fact that there is always something to do. Opening/unloading truck is a nice way to wake up once you get used to it. Most customers are friendly and many of them are regulars. It might depend on the store/manager but I had excellent scheduling flexibility when I worked during high school and college.

    Cons

Some people don't like closing because you have to stay late, but it can be fun if you like the people you're working with. There were a few periods of time filled with too much high school drama.

I have been working at Fareway Stores part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Super flexible scheduling, nice pay for the amount of work, good shifts, usually easy to get hired

    Cons

Lots of inexperienced high school workers (pro or con)

    Advice to Management

Limit the amount of people you hire because it limits the amount of hours offered

    Pros

    Flexible hours
    Customer experience
This is a great company that treats customers and employee's with the utmost respect. Please don't take my "Cons" the wrong way as what I experienced was just at 1/2 stores. The company as a whole is amazing!

    Cons

    Management had it's days.

I'm not a complainer by any means. I get it. There is a time crunch but there were times when management is just nasty. In my 4 years I was at 2 different stores and I experienced it all. There were unnecessary sexual references, unprofessional behavior and stuff that just wasn't right. This is a great company that treats customers and employee's with the utmost respect.

    Advice to Management

Keep the full timer's in line. Strive for professionalism

I have been working at Fareway Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, paid breaks, friendly team, management is nice as well. they are pretty quick to give a raise if you deserve it. most holidays and all sundays off.

    Cons

they don't really train new people very extensively (only the basics). they seem to have some sort of salary cap, no part time worker at the store i work at is over $9/hr. but i don't know for sure

    Advice to Management

Train the new people better, either do it yourself or have someone do it for longer than a couple of hours. very small back room its hard to get pallets that are buried deep.

    Pros

    You get paid for working

    Cons

You get treated unfairly if you get sick.

    Advice to Management

Train your managers to not yell at an employee for calling in sick before work. I threw up one day and almost got fired.
