- "Long hours, busy management, with purchase from Smithfield seems like the company is more into finances than the concerns of their employees." (in 3 reviews)

Just be friendly and don’t complain .
Sep 1, 2021 - General Worker in Vernon, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Really good place to work and make money , there is always overtime all the time . If you want promotion you must not miss any day at work and have seniority , at least 5 months. You must be friendly to supervisors even if they are annoying as f , don’t get on their bad side or they’ll talk sheet about you .
Cons
Cold place to work in , smoking area needs to be gone , too many smokers contaminating the lunch areas while everyone eats .

Develop fantastic work ethic in a fast paced, hands on environment
Feb 24, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Los Angeles, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I love the atmosphere and the people I am surrounded by. The upper management are fantastic people to work with and most have come from similar work experience and backgrounds. They welcome you with open arms and look to improve you as a person and worker as well. They really push the "promote from within" policy and look to promote both hourly employees and salaried.
Cons
Hours are long. Very rare to have a day under 10 hours, usually averaging about 12 hours a day. The environment can be a little intimidating, and the language barrier is sometimes a challenge if you are not bilingual in English and Spanish, it hurts the communication with employees significantly.

I look forward to walking into work every single day. Knowing I will be greeting with warm smiles and genuine hellos.
Feb 25, 2015 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
It is definitely a hard working type of environment but very much worth it. There are always engaging activities that all associates can participate in and join. I really like being able to meet coworkers from other departments and engage with mine outside of work. Number ONE benefit: Educational Assistance Program... this is a benefit that many companies no longer offer nowadays. It is great to see a company help their employees learn and grow. Anytime, anywhere people are always greeted with a wave and a smile and there couldn't be a better working environment.
Cons
Language barriers can exists between Spanish only speaking workers and English only speaking workers and may be expected to work together.

Pros
Easy job but dumb upper management. They are owned by Hormel Foods but too bad this Subsidiary has a bad culture. Word of advice, watch your own back and dont help out others too much.
Cons
Typical corporate environment, everyone is fake and a back stabber. Management is horrible, 2nd shift supervisors are expected to work 12-14 hours a day. You come in at 2 PM leave around 1-2 am. The 2nd shift superintendent has been working there for 25 + years and that is the only job he ever had. So imagine the kind of micro managing he will put on you. The manager expects you to work harder using 10 steps when you can complete something with only 5 steps w/o any shortcuts. Instead of working smarter and efficient you actually are working 10 times harder and using more time to finish something. You can also get fired for working smarter than the management team especially the 2nd shift manager.
