    Pros

Good benifits, weekends off, easy to get along with other employees

    Cons

You'll work more than what you'll get payed, 35 cents a year as a raise, managers don't speak English they get pushed around by the main office. Everybody wants to kiss butt to the management of the company to try to get a better position.

    Advice to Management

Threat your workers better they are what makes the brand name instead of being selfish and pocket all the winnings.

I have been working at Farmer John full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of overtime if you like that, decent medical, vision, dental benefits.

    Cons

It appears that operations and engineering departments are pitted against one another. They blame us for everything. I just don't get how this company functions on a daily basis with a work force that sometimes makes you wonder how they got their pants on in the morning. You need a lot of patience and rhino like skin to get up everyday and come here to work....

    Advice to Management

    Fire everyone and start over....

I have been working at Farmer John full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company is in a good sweet spot between corporate own facility and private company. There is a good and personable atmosphere. Management is open to discussion, easy to find someone that's more experienced and willing to help you.

There is good corporate policy and resource to make sure things are done with appropriate funding.

It is easy to build a good relationship with your coworkers. Hour is not bad to avoid traffic in LA.

    Cons

This is an older facility that was not well taken cared until bought by Hormel Food.

Language barrier could certainly be an issue if you are not bilingual in English and Spanish, especially if you are supervisor hourly staff.

Hours are long and often extend as production demand increases.

    Advice to Management

More discussion of possible career path and growth opportunity is necessary if you want to keep talented employees.

Faster vacation hour accumulation would better balance the long hours.

I have been working at Farmer John full-time

    Pros

I love the atmosphere and the people I am surrounded by. The upper management are fantastic people to work with and most have come from similar work experience and backgrounds. They welcome you with open arms and look to improve you as a person and worker as well.
They really push the "promote from within" policy and look to promote both hourly employees and salaried.

    Cons

Hours are long. Very rare to have a day under 10 hours, usually averaging about 12 hours a day.
The environment can be a little intimidating, and the language barrier is sometimes a challenge if you are not bilingual in English and Spanish, it hurts the communication with employees significantly.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within is a great mentality to stand by.
keep the open door policy for lower management employees to have discussions freely with the upper management.
Cross-train in different fields within Farmer John if all possible. (Marketing to learn Production, and visa versa.)

I worked at Farmer John full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good health benefits and 401k
    Some nice supervisors

    Cons

    Double standards
Employees are not treated equally across the board
People who don't do much are promoted more often than others who work hard
Not enough promotion opportunities company does not promote work/life balance

    Advice to Management

Weed out employees who don't pull their weight and aren't productive. Reward those who do and who are.
