Pros
  • Hopefully Zurich will sell them off after feasting on them for the last several years (in 3 reviews)

Cons
  • There are no benefits provided by the company as you are essentially a "free/cheap" sales team (in 3 reviews)

  • As a broker, farmers can be uncompetitive at times and unless you own the agency contract you will not make much in terms of income (in 3 reviews)

    Pros

The name has history therefore easy to sell their products.

    Cons

Lower managers are known to be deceitful and from experience yes they are. You must sign a contract that does not allow you to take any oft your clients with you when you leave the company. If you manage a large book of business that you have signed to Farmers you can forget about your large book of business. Also if they are using you for a short time to build up business then I feel for you. Soon you will be history and all your policies will be distributed among Managers favorite guys.

    Advice to Management

Try a more ethical and less likely to take your money company like Mercury, AAA and State Farm

    Pros

A real team atmosphere. Bonuses are available to those that reach their sales requirements. Trips, vacations, all sorts of events. If you have previous hard sales and cold calling experience, it may be a good fit for you.

    Cons

unobtainable sales requirements There's a reason many prospective agents are weeded out very swiftly. If an agency is opened, it must remain open and not change locations. Due to public thinking the company is failing. Con. Paid once a month.

    Advice to Management

be honest and transparent with new hires on expectations

    Pros

    Company pays for license.

    Cons

Entire department is more focused on making coworkers look bad to try to get ahead. Behavior reviews are completey up to how the supervisor feels and not on performance. So it leaves a lot of room for them to come up with nonsense to fail an employee's review. Most supervisors use this to manipulate subordinates. The company 's management staff looks for reasons to keep all department s very vanilla.

    Advice to Management

Dont not allow one supervisor dictate someones employment or worth. there is nothing stoping a supervisor from encouraging certain behaviors one month and then making employees look bad over the same exact examples the next.

I have been working at Farmers Insurance Group FCU full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very financially sound (profitable) organization with good compensation and bonus opportunities if you are in management. The work schedule is also very attractive with a M-F, 7:15 to 4 pm schedule for most people.

    Cons

Sr. Management team is fractured and sometimes have problems facing real issues outside of their direct view. They tend to protect their own and ignore some of their team's unprofessional/unacceptable behavior.

    Advice to Management

Figure out who the bad seed is and remove it before more damage is done to the most important member facing division in the company. You already know who that is, act on it! Why risk more employee law suits by letting this person continue to run good people off.
