    Pros

Opportunities available to start a business with little money.

    Cons

There is a lot of grey when it comes to becoming an agent. They fire agents and let others off with a warning for the same infractions

    Pros

Good work culture. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

A lot of competition and you need to be better than the best.

I have been working at Farmers Insurance Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Now? Nothing. Everything unique about the company has been destroyed and its like any other place. If they pay your more work here. If not, leave

    Cons

In 7 years management has managed to grow 0%, financial strength had declined and employee moral non existent. 7 years ago older employees were grandfathered into old pension. This year it was frozen leaving people who are 10-20 years away from retirement screwed as inflation destroys their pension based on their 2016 salary because they can collect it until 2036

    Advice to Management

Resign. The past 7 years have been failure. Written premium unchanged. Financial strength unchanged. More bureaucratic. More trendy with zero conviction coming from upper management. Flat structure (except for CEO and friends) lead to nobody in charge of anything and bad decision after bad decision.

I worked at Farmers Insurance Group (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid company, many good people and above market pay

    Cons

Culture of blame games and too many changes implemented simultaneously in an organization that does not provide the tools or support processes for change management.

    Advice to Management

Reduce number of initiatives; work together better. Take the time to reward and celebrate successes.

    Pros

The people that work at Farmers are very nice, loving and just all around good people for the most part.

    Cons

I disliked the fact that despite the great people the upper management did not know how to keep the morale of the employees high.

There was also very little room for growth in the marketing department. People stay in the same position for 10 plus years.

    Advice to Management

Develop your employees for growth and try to do what ever it takes to keep the morale high, as your team will work harder for you if they are happy.

I worked at Farmers Insurance Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Independence and training. Products are of good quality.

    Cons

Locked into selling many products that are not competitive. The insurance world is vast, and those locked into one brand as a captive agent are largely exploited by the insurers (in this case, Farmers).
