I worked at Fastenal part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Somewhat flexible hours
    Good on job training
    mildly competitive pay

    Cons

    - They don't care about you is the feeling you get
-Culture is its all about the bottom line, its a money orientated than people orientated
-Management is taken from who you know and not if the manager is good at what they do

    Advice to Management

Work on the toxic leadership that plagues management in the warehouse. The departments, especially Sortation, and shipping are led by toxic managers who dont know how to lead. One minute they are trying to be "one of the guys" and act like they are the same age as the college kids, and the next they are screaming at them. There is a reason turnover rates are so incredibly high in these departments. Im unaware of how other departments are led i had minimal exposure during my 2 years. Honestly wouldnt recommend anyone work here as a part timer.

    Pros

Very independent- you practically run your own business

    Cons

Subpar pay compare to other companies in the same industry

Turnover makes keeping teams together impossible

    Pros

    Nothing is worth working here

    Advice to Management

    Get bent

I have been working at Fastenal full-time

    Pros

Do not have to work weekends. They usually have new trucks (less than 3 yrs old) for employees to deliver supplies with.

    Cons

Poor management, do not care about anything but themselves. Commission is usually 2% at best, they will tell you it is better, but after you are penalized for made up BS you are lucky to get 2%
It is hard to sell anything when prices are too high and you have to wait 3 days for a district manager to approve a lower price, by then the customer has already bought it elsewhere.

I have been working at Fastenal full-time

    Pros

    Weekends off
The rules aren't upheld so at times you have more freedom to do what is necessary to succeed..

    Cons

    Horrible pay
    Bad management
Expected to go above, and beyond the already unrealistic goals set, and than not compensated well.
    Repetitive boring work

    Advice to Management

Make sure if someone is doing the work for an account that they are being paid for it, and not someone else that is benefiting off that persons hard work.

    I worked at Fastenal full-time

    Pros

Coworkers were nice at the workplace.

    Cons

Need to teach new employees and allow them to undergo the training before going into their job. Wasn't given training and was told to work without direct supervision the majority of the time. Also. Why hire someone JUST to let them go in a matter of weeks? Was let go to accommodate for two other Fastenal employees to move to the area. The location was understaffed yet people were let go.

I worked at Fastenal part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked with some great people and learned a lot about things i never would have learned about otherwise.

    Cons

There was a lot of demand for hours to be where they wanted and not a lot of flexibility towards the end which is why i left.

    Advice to Management

    I don't have much.

I have been working at Fastenal full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of great co-workers, willing to train with no experience. They do give you independence and freedom.

    Cons

"Growth through customer service" is dead. Pay plans are a serious joke, except it is not funny. You may last a few years, but you will figure it out. They will find a way to plug the hole if you find a way to make money. And don't dare say anything, they are the biggest bunch of babies.

    Advice to Management

Wake up, wake up, wake up. You are losing your integrity. You have become like criminals, I have seen it with my own eyes.
