I have been working at Fawcett Memorial Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

great teamwork between staff members, everyone feels a sense of belonging amongst each other, nurse manager and director work well with scheduling, the majority of doctors are kind to work with, new grad RNs welcomed

    Cons

high turn over rate of staff causing a high reliance on travel and agency staffing, nurses are always maxed out with highly acute patients, no free charge nurse on the floor, especially not at night. not enough CNAs for help, night shift often is left to fend for themselves, patients are placed wherever bed is available, compared to other hospitals in the area pay is below average

    Advice to Management

focus more on staff retention and less on "patient satisfaction", as they go hand in hand. create a better patient to nurse ratio, increase pay and bonuses, especially when extra shifts are picked up, supply with adequate staffing for both day and night shift, stray away from micro management during day shift - it takes time away from patients

I have been working at Fawcett Memorial Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

teamwork is strong with full time staff. Probably the best pay in the area. Benefits are decent, everyone's insurances plans are terrible, so that's a moot point. Hospital is expanding.

    Cons

Lots of micro managing on dayshifts, Night shifts are pretty much left to fend for their own. High turnover rates, often shifts are staffed by travelers and agency who are often either way over qualified or under.

    Advice to Management

Work on your full time staff retention. Seasonal bonuses might help, ordering pizza for staff is a good indicator that its going to be a bad night.

Lost job after 25 years in the field. Had to up my credentials but chose not to because of age. Did a great job at my position and was there for almost 9 years and just cancelled me my last day of work without a word.

    Advice to Management

Very disappointed with management since I gave 9 years working hard for the company.
