I worked at Fayetteville State University full-time

    Pros

    - Workload is getting lighter due to declining enrollment and a reducing budget. - Students do not expect to learn much from class, so faculty do not need to prepare well for teaching. - Campus has all kinds of recycling materials around -- You will find used condoms on the lawn or hallway.

    Cons

    - Extremely bureaucratic. - Poor IT support. - Senior admin does not trust employees (all employees must swipe their employee cards to prove attendance). - Budget cut is removing departments and employee positions. - No hope for future development.

I have been working at Fayetteville State University full-time

    Pros

Ft. Bragg is the main source of students to FSU and will face dramatic federal budget cut. FSU will lose many students, thus reducing overall workload. If you look for a lighter workload, then FSU may be your good choice.

    Cons

The university senior administration does not trust employees. Every one is required to swipe their employee card in required events to prove their attendance. Administrative staff typically don't reply your email or phone call. ITTS does not provide administrative authority to faculty to even install course-related software to their office computer. Oftentimes ITTS is unwilling or fails to support faculty needs. Dean grants tenure to unqualified employees. You can find some tenured assistant professors who have little intellectual contribution. Employees can be fired at any time, with little notice and no explanation, thus creating a fear among all employees who now become very risk-averse and lack motivation. Meetings are redundant and a waste of time. They want you to attend meetings so as to prove that they are productive. Students feel frustrated by the red tape, dirty campus, and some unqualified faculty. Sport facilities are not open to faculty and staff. Their Olympic size pool is reserved only for external paid groups.
