I have been working at FedEx Freight full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Overtime is almost always there. Meet a lot of different people from all backgrounds. Management is there when you need to speak with them (open door policy is enforced).

    Cons

limited room for advancement due to hiring from other centers and the abundant apps from outside the company. Structured interviews allow inadequate (lazy) people to get hired on who then lower dock morale with poor production and work ethic.

    Advice to Management

Recruit better employees and hire off the dock in order to boost morale. People work better for those they know on a personal and professional level.

I have been working at FedEx Freight part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Getting to know a team of drivers and other support staff.
Getting to help customers and answer their questions.
    Safety barbecues.
    Fixed schedule.

    Cons

    Trying to help unhappy customers.
    Having to bounce between tasks.
    Working on a tight schedule.

    Advice to Management

Work on the training of new drivers.
Follow up with drivers, making sure they know what to do.

    Distribute work more amongst employees.

I have been working at FedEx Freight part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are very nice and it is a laid back environment. The pay is great, especially for someone without a degree. The hours are perfect for anyone attending school or has obligations during the day.

    Cons

For the most part they only offer part-time and your hours fluctuate substantially between 18-27 hours.

Very limited room to advance, especially if you are not related to anyone or haven't worked there for 10+ years.

Management does not seem to care too much about their employees and their success, as well as overworked/under-manned HR department making it EXTREMELY hard to get situations handled.

    Advice to Management

Hire/promote based off of merit and hard work.

Implement some sort of reward system, even thank you's would be much appreciated.

I have been working at FedEx Freight part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love the job because the communication between the supervisors on the dock and the dockworkers is a vital part of the job, which really makes the job run. Also, the side benefits is a good 401K, good health benefits, get holidays off, and good pay.

    Cons

Things I don't enjoy about the job are 1) the relationship between upper management and dockerworkers isn't strong to most of the dockerworkers, and 2) the climate brings in extreme cold and extreme heat in the respective seasons.

    Advice to Management

Compliment more about a good job and ask why we don't get our job done in a timely fashion before assuming we aren't doing a good job. Sometimes we don't have the best of trailers or day/week, where when we have days where we are doing a good job, we don't get recognition and get spoken to and feeling like we still did not do a good enough job for that day/week.

I have been working at FedEx Freight full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great steady job. Good benifits. Fast paced.

    Cons

Dirty cold and management varies widely by location. The only way to move up is to get hurt.

    Advice to Management

Look for some innovative ways to improve the system as opposed to just trying to survive the night.

I have been working at FedEx Freight full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They pay overtime after 8 hours. Their pay currently starts out at $22.08 for city drivers. There are a lot of career opportunities to move around in the company. Uniforms are provided at no cost every year, unless you want extras.

    Cons

There is a lot of racism with the dispatchers and supervisors at this location. When you first become a city driver you get less than 8 hours a day, have to work the dock, and sometimes have to do road runs.

I worked at FedEx Freight (More than a year)

    Pros

FedEx Freight has excellent pay and benefits for its employees. This is a very fast paced detail oriented environment and can lead to great career opportunities.

    Cons

Schedule is often night time shift or mid to late evening shift as a dock worker. However they do have opportunities as city drivers that operate during the daytime hours making regular deliveries and pickups.
