I worked at FedEx Office full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - benefits
    - training now online not as good as going to class when they were kinkos.
    - work schedule (they try to work with you).
    - upward mobility (Do it!)
    - Staff (When you actually have people who are hard working and willing to work with you plus there is a network of locations across the United States you can call upon to assist you in getting a project completed!)

    Cons

    - Sadly lazy Co Workers.
    - Shady managers
    - Always something changing weekly sometimes every few days with shipping.

Realize as you move up you have a target on you're back!

    Advice to Management

Stop being clickish, arrogant and mentor the hard working/bright people! you would not be where you're at if not for them. Motivate those people consistently so they can get a sense of what they can accomplish.

I have been working at FedEx Office full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It has great benefits and a lot of support from surrounding stores. It isn't a competition among stores to make the most money it is about working together to do what's best for the customer and for the company

    Cons

Some days are very busy and can get stressful, it's tough sometimes because not everyone is cut out to work this job and stress gets to a lot of people, but in the end it all usually works out!

    Advice to Management

Make training materials a little easier to go through. The system is old and needs to be updated to make it easier on employees and better for customers!

I worked at FedEx Office full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tuition reimbursement, good benefits, flexible schedule, learn printing/shipping solutions, relocation opportunities.

    Cons

As a retail/services environment, some customers WILL be ugly, but that just comes with the territory. Also, sometimes corporate policy tends to make mountains out of molehills, which can be a little frustrating because the people making corporate policy are pretty much completely disconnected from the actual in-store experience.

    Advice to Management

Encourage your employees. Raise the bar for who you choose to hire.

I worked at FedEx Office full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

FedEx Office attracts a certain type of worker, and generally if you are interested in working there you are probably one of them. There's a good chance that the people you work with will see eye to eye with you, will work hard to keep you from having to pick up the slack, will be amicable, and all around professional. There are exceptions, of course, but lazy and rude workers are less common. This is in part because the culture of the company encourages mutual respect between managers and employees, and as far as corporations go, you can feel comfortable that the company has your back. The job itself can be challenging, but for those willing to step up, it can be a great learning experience. If you engage with the work, you will learn a great deal technically, but also a great deal about leadership, teamwork and professionalism.

    Cons

The price of all that learning is relatively low pay. As far as retail goes, it pays well, but ultimately your job at FedEx goes above and beyond what the average retail employee will have to endure. If you go into the job with a lack of experience, as I did, the wage will work for you, but as you continue to excel and learn and become more accomplished, the responsibilities and expectations placed on you will continue to pile up, and your wage will not reflect that change, and will generally stay on the high end of the retail scale. when in reality you'll end up doing a great deal of work with different types of software, closing deals on $1000+ print orders, as well as producing them, packing all sorts of items and processing them for shipping, learning new policies every month and putting out fires every day. Among other things. The pay goes up the more you go up in the company, and the good thing is there are always a lot of great opportunities to do so. But the higher you go, the more responsibility and expectation, and the pay is already lagging behind what it should be- you probably need to hit district manager before you're getting paid what you deserve, and from what I've seen most people don't get past center manager.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employess more. They have two jobs, shipping and printing, and they're expected to do them both at 100%. They're expected to handle a great deal of specialized work, but are paid as though they're standing at the cash register all day. Or if you're not willing to pay more, spend more money on payroll so that you can hire more people. The people you hire like the job and are generally motivated to work hard, but are always going to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to keep up with everything, and inevitably dropping the ball, if you can't put in the investment to keep your stores running smoothly.
