    Pros

    It's a steady job.All I can think of

    Cons

The numbers, you are inundated with numbers,go faster, work harder but the pay never catches up to the work. Different parts of the state make different amounts according to cost of living but the cost of living has drastically gone up but Fedex still hasn't done anything about it. You have satisfied employees but they are not front-line employees,no matter what you do at Fedex the public recognizes the Drivers for Fedex no one else.15 years it takes to get to maximum pay at Fedex,UPS 36 months. When the Unions come into Fedex which they will,Fedex will have no one to blame but itself.

    Advice to Management

Stop having engineers design routes unless they can actually do the route,ROADS is a waste of time just like best practice is. Topping out sooner than 15 years,it is insane that UPS tops out in 3 years. Cost of living increase across the board, stop the disparity in pay among couriers and regions. It cost the same to send a letter to NYC in all areas of the U.S. so why shouldn't the pay be the same.

    Pros

After 15 years, I can't think of one! OK, maybe one? The benifits are pretty good.

    Cons

Quit and never go back. If, you do, you will be treated as IF you are a NEW employee. However, you can climb up the ladder faster with all that knowledge, but the pay will NOT!! The best job within FedEx where the pay is ok was a courier. After so many years on the road, my body couldn't keep up and so, i chose to quit instead of working as a CSR in the call center or in a BSC (pay cut to go in doors at FedEx) and at that time was not an option being a single parent.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and run with their Idea's. Your employee's are the ones that make you look good on paper!! More appreciation from the seniors/manager's would be nice!!

    Pros

    Beats being homeless,good pay,job security.

    Cons

Retirement just cash pension, Health benefits inadequate,Retiree healthcare $1,000 per mon. work rules change daily, things are so bad we are in the middle of an organizing drive to have the Teamsters represent us in Aircraft Maint. We WILL get a CONTRACT.This Co. has gone from being A place that once held strong to the PSP philosophy(people, service, profit),now its all about the profit and keeping Wallstreet happy.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people, when you have a background in finance, don't try and tell your Aircraft Maint. people how to repair aircraft.Hire qualified Mgrs.,Not someone who tells you what you want to hear in an interview. Get back to your PSP philosophy, take care of your people, and we will take care of you and the customer. Stop cutting manpower back to levels that are UNSAFE!!!.

    Pros

It is not the worst place to work in Memhis.

    Cons

Retirement package, vision, medical, dental, work rules, management team, corporate greed.........

    Advice to Management

Keep your word to your employees, share the wealth, dont steal the retirement from the employees just because you have a golden parachute. Bring back the reliability incentive program (rip) and other chances for bonuses. Stop trying to farm A/C maintenance out to vendors. You get what you pay for.Vendors are not reliable and cost effective. We see more vendor work coming back to us in the field improperly performed. Soon this will be a Teamsters Organization and A/C maintenance will try to get some of these benefits returned. In the past the slogan here was PSP (People = Service= Profit). This meant Take care of our people and they will provide a good service and the company will make a nice profit. Now its screw the employee.Where is my Profit?, and you better provide a good service or your out on your head. The old days will return with Mr. Hoffas help!!!!!!!!!!!

    Pros

    Benefits are fantastic. That's it.

    Cons

Used to be a good company, then things changed, now the company no longer cares about its front line couriers in the least. They want to squeeze blood from a stone and work couriers to death while showing favoritism to friends. Management is an utterly useless group of fools, disorganized and incompetent. Perhaps if the company would stop strong-arming anyone who utters the word "union" and let us organize, we would have SOME rights as employees, instead of being complete slaves to their foolish whims.

    Advice to Management

Allow us to organize a union, for one thing. For another, kick all the idiot bean-counters who think they have a clue to the curb, and start going to the people on the front lines for the information you need on how to please our customers. "Purple Promise" is nothing but a shell game they use to make themselves feel good.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

It is the only large cargo carrier in Memphis, Memphis does not have many competing jobs in this category.

    Cons

FedEx does not provide adequate benefits to a majority of the employees. Some Workgroups do have adequate benefits. The executive management group has an excellent pay, retirement, and bonuses. There retirements benefits are outstanding, retirement pay, and retirement medical.

As for the majority of employees the pay is inadequate, the health insurance is sold to the employees for a high price with very poor coverage. The traditional pension plan was discontinued, and frozen. They have a very inadequate cash Pension Plan that will pay a minimum token amount when the employee leaves after 20 years. It is based on your salary and time in service, and applied to a company account every three months with a interest rate of 1% every three months. That ADDS up to 4% the year, and you do not control the money in the account. It is controlled by the company.

Many of the retirees are struggling with the health insurance. The retirees have to pay $700 to $1,000 a month for coverage for two people. This is no better than Cobra coverage.

Many people go to work for large companies for the benefits, health insurance and retirement knowing that this was promised at the beginning of their employment with this company.

FedEx is very good with public relations they have the means and the money to make the story sound good. They also are very good of promising many things. But to is all smoke and mirrors.

    Advice to Management

FedEx does not take advice from anyone in the employee ranks. They hire consultants for high fees to get advice. It is fruitless to even give any advice to they executive management. There is no communication.

    Pros

Fedex start wage is fantastic but, this is how the company suckers people in.
Fedex benefits are great as well but, beware that this is another tactic to sucker people in.

    Cons

The downsides to working at Fedex is simple, they are great manipulators. They tell people what they want to hear but, do the complete opposite. All Fedex cares about is their reputation, and BRAND. They treat their frontline employee's aweful but, keep in mind that these are the people that make FEDEX very rich. Overall the company has made alot of money throughout the years, now they over work their employee's, and company expections/goals are just unreasonable to achieve.

    Advice to Management

That not all of your EMPLOYEE'S are easily manipulated, and they can read between the lines. That BAD managers at stations with know people skills, out for the quarterly bonuses, isn't exactly a smart move from senior management at Fedex.
Senior management has to get more involved in there frontline operations cause, this is the part of the business that makes Fedex the company that it is.

    Pros

Get tuition reimbursment for college (to move on to better things)

    Cons

Where shall I start? You are extremely overworked and underpaid. There is favoritism. Managers only care about their numbers. Fedex continues to take away benefits yet wants you to do more and more. Advancement only happens if you kiss you know what. I can go on and on but there isn't enough time in the day....

    Advice to Management

I would say that every senior manager I have come across is in the right line of work for themselves. Fedex wants a cold, heartless tyrant and most senior managers, as well as managers, fit the bill.

    Cons

The constant threats if you dont meet unreasonable goals. the ridiculous policies set by a company that calls itself a people company.

    Advice to Management

Lets get back to what made Fedex great. Stop focusing on meaningless reports and skewed statistics and let us do our jobs...ie serve the customer. Thats what we are in business for

    Pros

There are none. They have gotten so big now that they don't care about their employees especially the ones that have been there 20 years or more. They are too Senior Mangement heavy!!

    Cons

When they fire you 2 weeks before Christmas and then take your last check because your vacation time ate it up I would say that sucks!! You have nothing to support your family on and FedEx doesn't care!!

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at your organization. Some people lie to your face and yet you still believe it and let them keep their job?? Amazing!!
