    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at Federal Election Commission full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Federal Job, Offices, Benefits, Good people, Good mission, Midtown offices. It's a real chance to see how a small agency works in the federal government.

    Cons

The structure of the Commission leads to an engine stall throughout the agency. The result is that division leaders do not deal with agendas or anything of consequence. Otherwise their work will get lost in a limbo of three-to-three votes.

    Advice to Management

Be fair. Wait until there are new appointments. Find a way to make a difference again by enforcing the laws on the books, and the legislative intent behind the laws.

    Advice to Management

Better communication, more flexibility in schedules and telework arrangements, and if the Commissioners professionally worked together to advance the agency's mission, morale would increase.

I worked at Federal Election Commission full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You learn specific area of law related to federal elections and financing and overall there are very nice and dedicated people. It's also a small agency and government experience is plus.

    Cons

There is not a lot of room for upward mobility and pay is on the low side. There is also limited ability for alternative work arrangments (telework, etc).

    Advice to Management

Provide more training for younger attorneys and management training for more senior attorneys or those moving up.

I have been working at Federal Election Commission

    Pros

The Federal Election Commission is a very important agency to a functional government. People work hard and take their jobs serious.

    Cons

The pay is somewhat low and their is some negative stigma working for the government even though the fec has a very private sector menrality.

    Advice to Management

Give higher salaries to those starting off. The work load is great amount but salaries could be quite a bit higher.
