    Pros

Potential Growth. Newest technology. Great Training. Leadership Development. Reveiw and Feed back. Great Health, Dental, Vision Benifets. Excellent Job Security. 30 Days paid vacation a year.

    Cons

Deploying overseas. Very long work hours. Constantly on call and on the go. Little time for family life. Extremely Stressfull.

    Advice to Management

Even out work load of employees. Some employees work a lot harder then others, and sometimes get the same recognition and rewards as poor preforming employees.

    Pros

Job Security is #1. In the current economic environment, you can't ask for anything better. Prior to the economic downturn, private industry paid better than the Federal Government. However, now the folks in private industry are scrambling for jobs and losing their homes. Great benefits. Pension.

    Cons

No salary bonuses. Negative comments by those who hate federal employees.

    Advice to Management

Do the right thing. Don't suck up to those above.

    Pros

If one is selected, the promotional opportunities are great. Benefits are excellent, travel opportunities are there, positions are endless (availability to apply around the world).

    Cons

Hard to enter into the Federal Government jobs. Although posted, most individuals are pre-selected by the hiring personnel.

    Advice to Management

It's important to select the most qualified individual versus pre-selecting individuals. I recently attended an OPM resume writing course and the individual instructing the class explained what many governmental hiring personnel do when the individual they had in mind does not pass the pre-selection.

Depending on what Agency you work for, you can be involved in important work and be a part of important, history-making decisions and events.

    Cons

You have to deal with the disdain of Federal Employees by the average American.

    Pros

Professional atmosphere with challenging demands that change with the environment. The work ranges from routine to demanding almost daily and the result is always satisfying.

    Cons

The work hours can be extremely long and unconventional requiring a lot of juggling of family commitments, and long periods of time away from the family.

    Advice to Management

Continue to look at ways to cut back the time employees are required to travel away from the location of the work site.
