    Pros

    Regular paycheck comes direct deposit.

    Cons

little updward mobility, and if you are lucky enough to get a promotion past GS-11, they are rare and slow. Everyone think gov workers are overpaid when in reality they are way below private sector counterparts. You can get fire just has easily in the federal sector has you can the private sector. if I screw up, I can go to jail. contractor screws up, oh well(!) nothing is done. I have to have to knowledge of the US Code and Federal Aquisition regulation, contractor employees haven't got a clue.

    Advice to Management

Start paying Feds comparable to their private sector counterparts.

    Pros

Great job protection (it has protected some idiots that would not last elsewhere), the benefits are okay, flexible work arrangements are available. It is a great feeling if the organiZation really tries to accomplish to goals of the program

    Cons

If you aren't related to someone, sleeping with someone, or friends with somone you will not even get in the door!!! The only reason they get away with this is that the American public doesn't understand the process.

    Advice to Management

Address the problems in your organizations

    Pros

Very few. Decent benefits. Do not recommend working here.

    Cons

No one cares about if you ever complete a successful project while working for the government. All they care about is blowing their budget 100 percent no matter how poorly the money is spent. Secondarily, they want to get more money and have their project extended. This goes on until they have reached tenure so they can't be fired and they can just sit around being pricks until retirement. Full of unhappy, bitter and unskilled people.

    Advice to Management

Fire all the politicians. Implement 6 year term limits. Hire all new politicians.

    Pros

Since it isn't a contract job, no worries form year to year if you will have a job.

    Cons

Not is to move up the ranks. Good old boy network still. Have to take too much training that isn't related to your job. Not enough money to take classroom training that is job related.

    Advice to Management

Need to do a better job on mentoring the ranks and preparing to take the next step in their career.
