I worked at Federal Government full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Consistent steady work. Regular work hours, time off, holidays, and work from home were the benefits of working there.

    Cons

Employees are kept around despite productivity. Some employees are moved up just to get them out of positions they aren't good at. Production and quality are always higher than can be met due to workload demands. Mandatory overtime can be in effect due to current politics.

    Advice to Management

Reward those who go above and beyond what is needed since there are not many ways to reward those employees. Also because there are many who are there just to put in time, not improve the workload.

    Pros

Great benefits, job security, flexible work hours,

    Cons

Some bad managers, especially x-military folks make the job environment crazy. X-military folks don't understand the difference between civilian and military environment and not necessarily they are more productive than private sectors.

    Advice to Management

Please do not put military folks in the mid level management. They create too much problem for no reason.

    Pros

Benefits are the greatest. Giving back to the Army with knowledge and experience is an awesome feeling. Knowing that the future soldiers are being trained to the fullest.

    Cons

The caliber of soldiers are not the same. Although they maybe smarter there tolerance for disclipine is lacking. It's takes a lot of patience to train soldiers.

    Advice to Management

My chain of command has been great and very supportive.
