    I have been working at Federal-Mogul full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Very easy job answering phone and emails from customers who are 95% of the time very easy to work with. I have my BS Degree so I was able to negotiate my salary way above what they wanted to pay me at first. Most co-workers are very friendly, but there are also those that like to try to micromanage others even when not in the same department. 2 15 minute paid breaks an a non paid 30 minute lunch. When starting you get 10 days paid vacation as well as 56 hours of sick leave a year. This goes up after you've been with the company for 5,10,15 years etc.
    Flexible work hours, unless you get the late shift which is from 10:30 am to 7 pm which is still not too bad.

    Cons

    Sitting behind a desk all day waiting for the phone to ring. No overtime offered, except for Christmas time when they close down the last week of the year and offer overtime for those who volunteer to work that week. Very little opportunity for advancement. People have been here 30+years and are still in the same position as when they started working. Yearly raises are a joke. 5-10 cents even if you score highly on performance reviews and meet all the quality standards that the company sets. Can become boring very fast and employees are constantly waiting for other opportunities to arise elsewhere and there is very high turnover.

    Advice to Management

    Management is terrible and do not listen to employee concerns or suggestions.

    Pros

    Good low stress job. No real timelines. The people are great to work with and a lot of fun. The building is nice

    Cons

    Slow to market. Apathetic to quality and new products. There is never a push to improve rather to maintain the status quo regardless of issues with the status quo products and manufacturing methods.

    Advice to Management

    Force employees to adhere to timelines. Stop firefighting then praising the arsonist for putting out the fire. If a new product is to be developed or launched make a concerted effort to get all the proper teams onboard and drive the development forward instead of hoping and wishing the product would develop itself.

    Pros

    Awful management, favoritism and nepotism are rampant.

    Cons

    Apparently, regarding feelings and favoritism is more important than accomplishing goals or company objectives.

    Advice to Management

    I understand that we are all human. But management should not keep a guy who fist fought someone one the floor... just because the same person went to high school with the Plant Manager.

    Good people on the shop floor and in the offices. Good supervisors and lower managers.

    Cons

    Senior staff needs shake up, especially in the plant management position.

    Advice to Management

    Bring in a change of management and set the priorities for non manufacturing areas.

    Pros

    Salary - the pay is fair, even good, in my opinion.

    Work/Life Balance - hours are reasonable and I rarely find myself having to stay late.

    Management - I have worked with some excellent managers so far.

    Cons

    Vacation time - new hires are given a standard two weeks and expected to grind out 5 years before receiving additional days. This simply does not sit well with millennials and I believe this is reflected in the composition of the workforce.

    Culture - there is little sense of belonging. Individuals show up, put in their time, and go home. No extracurriculars, happy hour with the team, etc. I admit this is not important to everyone, but I would like to be more invested in an environment in which I spend ~8 hours per day.

    Advice to Management

    Create a more engaging culture which will in turn attract young talent.

    Consider offering better vacation packages or the occasional work-from-home day, which are often disproportionately valuable when comparing two companies, yet cost the company little.

    Pros

    Good people, although none of them are happy to be there.

    Cons

    Micro-management at all levels, creating an environment of fear and stress, which leads to unprofessional behavior by employees. Promises made by HR during recruiting process quickly disappear after hiring. Terrible benefits, particularly the healthcare. Workspaces are cramped and poorly organized. The building's lighting and air are bad. Management team only cares about pleasing the owner of the company, and has no interest in utilizing the expertise of employees.

    Advice to Management

    None, since they only care about the opinion of the company's owner.

    Pros

    They give you a pay check.... That's really it.

    Cons

    Work 6 days a week, 12 hours a day and nearly impossible to get a day off, as they only let 1-2 off at a time.

    Advice to Management

    Stop attacking people and start attacking issues. More strict rules and the same inplementation of poor management and scheduling will only breed more turmoil. Non-existent training plans or quality, even though there are quality controllers and engineers present. We pay a Union and they do absolutely nothing to fight for a better future or present. This cimplant works on an ultimatum system and has absolutely no incentive, this is an utterly disgusting way to treat their employees and will never increase production or positive contribution. Ears shut, mouths open.
