I worked at Fedex Express full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits are fantastic. Very stable corporation. Lots of different directions to make a career path.

    Cons

Nothing is ever enough. Crisis management constantly. One can run their operation at 99.1% effective (which beats the goal) and all upper management can do is still ask "what happened to the other .9%. Accountability & responsibility has crossed the line in to punishment. More time and emphasis and making sure the couriers are wearing the correct socks and not working on getting customers their packages.

    Advice to Management

Stop managing out of fear for your job and meeting compliance.

I have been working at Fedex Express full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefit package and weekly pay. Spend about 2 hrs with co workers in the morning then you are are your own for the rest of the day

    Cons

Peak season. Sometimes you aren't able to see or walk through your truck. Also sometimes routes are discontinued so it means we have to work harder

I worked at Fedex Express part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fantastic Benefits - Insurance and Tuition Assistance are excellent
Short Work Hours - Supports multi-employment opportunities

    Cons

Fantastic Benefits - Many of which go unused or require significant maturity
Minimal Career Opportunities - Majority of staff used to fit the "Express" business model
Environment - Staff subjected to the weather (except in highly extreme cases)
Cost of Fuel constrains wage allocation
Schedule flexibility and time off is highly restricted

    Advice to Management

Create more opportunity for career advancement. Significantly increase Permanent Part-Time employee wages.

I have been working at Fedex Express full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Aviation has provided me an incredible standard of living in the upper middle class tier for my entire working career @ FedEx!

    Cons

There are basically two negatives for me with working out on the flight line and they are working in extreme hot/cold temperatures or heavy rain/snow conditions! However you accept those elements going into the job on the front end and simply prepare to deal with them.

    Advice to Management

Be a "genuine" people person and get to truly know those that work for you because they will go above and beyond for you as a friend far more than they will when you are just their "boss"!

    Pros

FedEx is a big company; however, it's still a great place to work. Stable work environment, visionary leadership, hands on executives, focused on serving the customer

    Cons

Hard work, but rewarding. To get ahead, you must learn to network and you must find a mentor in the higher ranks.

I have been working at Fedex Express full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Freedom Outside of the Station
    Health Benefits
    401 K
    Sick Time
    Vacation
    Personal Days

    Cons

Management across the board is absolutely horrible. Micro management is the name of the game here. They constantly change policies. One day you do something and it's fine, the next day your looking at a write up.

We get sick days, than when you use them you are lambasted for it. Most days I go to work sick because I have a fear of using my sick leave.

I have been told to do some extremely shady things to save managements butt, but it will and always does bite you back.

You really have to pick and choose what's worth it here. Kind of a shame really. You honestly can't say no. Favoritism comes into play at this job. It's extremely unfortunate. FedEx has changed over the years, and I honestly feel if they don't start looking at things internally FedEx will take a nose dive.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people. Quit micro management. Understand your driver's know more about the route they run than you do.
