I worked at Feld Entertainment full-time

    Pros

Working with performers and being a part of the shows!

    Cons

I worked there many years ago though I have no doubt the same people are still on the top. No appreciation for hard work or talent. They rewarded mediocre workers and suppressed creativity and talent as those at the top are threatened. If you smoke cigarettes and take a lot of breaks but kiss butt or if you have no college they prefer you so they don't have to pay you. Little chance for advancement unless you are a redneck! Gossip and backstabbing even from supervisors.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up!

I worked at Feld Entertainment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great environment. Free tickets to their shows, plus free tickets to show previews. The free tickets also cover international shows, so you can invite your friends, or personally attend the shows when traveling. Very nice! Good management and CEO's. They are all very friendly.

    Cons

Daily commute, if you live far. Sometimes working across departments can be tedious or time consuming if you need to wait and coordinate for meetings to get user requirements.
Priorities tend to be urgent due to the nature of the shows.

    Advice to Management

Reduce meeting times or implement policies to reduce noise and distractions.
Have departments plan and communicate their initiatives in a pro-active way.
Other than that, great company to work for!

I have been working at Feld Entertainment full-time

    Pros

It is a good resume entry, despite the lack of creative thinking and discouragement of moving forward with new methods and technology. Learning to work with such major brands is a big plus, and the shows we work with are a lot of fun. Seeing the way families react at the shows is always a nice reminder of the entertainment we provide.

    Cons

Feld is a very corporate atmosphere. Expect aloof, condescending management and unpaid hours at relatively low salaries. There is sexual harassment across multiple departments. Micromanagement is out of hand. Tracking every minute of every salary employee's time to make sure everyone puts in a minimum of 40 hours a week and that they eat their lunch at their desk will lead to low morale, which is very obviously the case in our department. Creative is controlled by brand and people with no background in design. There is little room for advancement. Many of us were hired as senior artists but the creative work is given to freelancers while we prep their files.

    Advice to Management

Trust your worker bees a little more, you hired them to do their jobs so let them. Allow folks to take vacation time without having to make a meeting to discuss it with the whole department for approval. At least listen to them, and let the people with a degree in design work do the designing.

I worked at Feld Entertainment full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Historically, the travel, the incentive and the autonomy to operate as an asset to the company. The people and the properties are terrific. Life on the road is like nothing else. It was a terrific opportunity for anyone looking to see new places, meet new people, watch incredible shows and create lifelong memories! I've got nothing bad to say about how great things used to be. Great career here, and without it I wouldn't be where I am now!

    Cons

Unfortunately all this has changed. Four people in this company matter, period! If you don't own the company, your opinion, your well-being, your autonomy, your ability to create and follow through, all go out the window. If you are a leader, if you want to even consider taking the wheel, prep your resume. Free-thinking is highly promoted, and immediately dismissed once you engage. I loved what this company stood for and how it operated, but in an arbitrary effort for the new generation of ownership to make their mark, everyone else is shuffled to the back and given little to no consideration. Only short-term gains moving forward. Unless you're a Feld, or part of their inner circle, don't expect long-term progress and upward movement.

    Advice to Management

Manage, don't own! Enable front line employees who know more about these shows than the majority of executives, to direct and operate as they know works for the organization as a whole. I understand "upper level" means you should know more about the day to day, but you don't. Collaborate, communicate, and work as a cohesive unit. This isn't the CIA, so stop treating people like second rate citizens and maintaining a need to know operation. Say what you mean, and do what you say. Follow through, support, and stop theorizing how you view each property and take them for what they are. You'll operate with a more motivated employee base, a genuine "team" atmosphere will emerge, and you'll succeed. Stop prohibiting people from being more than sheep. Allow and encourage free-thinking from anyone other than just ownership, and give credit where credit is due. Promote from within, and just get the job done! Stop making employees try and do more with less. Reward them for what they accomplish, because a feather in the cap won't cut it!
