I worked at Fenwal Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Awesome projects and great work/life balance. People are happy to help you learn and grow when you reach out. Plenty of growth opportunity (if you reach for it). Culture (in R&D) focusses more on R&D than appearances (jeans everyday). Highly recomended.

    Cons

Easy to get pidgeon holed. Project deadlines first, career development last. Not much time to seek outside training or education. Don't count on management to make your growth a priority. Compensation is below market level.

    Advice to Management

Make it easier for employees to explore different areas and projects.

I worked at Fenwal Inc. as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

well organizes co-op/intern program with over 20 students in the program for the R&D department. You can wear jeans on Friday and the company gives all the employees small gifts/treats for each birthday each month. Organized team building events such as corn-hole tournaments where branch locations flew into corporate headquarters. Trip to six flags for co-op/intern program was very fun too!

    Cons

Very big company and tough to move up. Over 200 engineers. Just a number basically.

I worked at Fenwal Inc. (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co-workers were awesome and location is enjoyable.

    Cons

When Fenwal was purchased by an international company, the entire demeanor of the company and its mission statement changed. As a result many people began leaving the company. The focus has changed from serving our customers, to making a buck off them.

    Pros

The company has solid products and a strong presence in its market, is growing and evolving, with well-established customer base, and world-wide recognition. Competition is limited. Employees have a a strong work ethic and are very cooperative in assisting each other. Overall, a "Can do" attitude.

    Cons

Fenwal is relatively knew as an independent company having spun off from Baxter in 2007/2008. Limited resources in all disciplines/functional areas result in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment. Operating system limitations, in the past, have been a source of frustration for key departments. It is still learning to operate without the support of a very large "umbrella" corporation it enjoyed before going independent. Fenwal does not manufacture its own products and must rely on 3rd parties to provide manufacturing resources. These resources are not yet fully identified and established. Also, Fenwal's Quality System has not stabilized and is in a state of flux with a somewhat high personnel turnover.

    Pros

Comfortable work environment and atmosphere. Excellent salary range and decent benefits offered.

    Cons

Varying degrees of communication to all staff. Noticeable clique attitude. Needs to have more teamwork and focus on working together towards goals.

    Advice to Management

The efforts to learn what issues are important people was a nice show but there was zero consistent follow through. Result was that many employees felt it was a waste of time.
