I have been working at Fenwick & West full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The staff and attorney's here are wonderful people. They really make it worth coming to work.

    Cons

The management really needs to pay attention to culture fit when they are hiring new staff. The reason Fenwick used to function so well is because everyone was on the same wavelength. Now, the staff in my department is not as cohesive because of the new people that do not understand the Fenwick culture.

    Advice to Management

Please listen to your staff and allow them to interact with their new coworkers before you onboard them!

High caliber work with interesting clients

Partnership is incredibly political, and unfortunately those disputes are exposed to associates

I have been working at Fenwick & West full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Some really great people here.

    Cons

Still very hierarchal in nature (what can you say, it's a law firm!). Great if you are an attorney or paralegal, but not so much if you are staff.

    Advice to Management

None for staff. Just come do you job.

I have been working at Fenwick & West full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fenwick is a very accommodating to different work schedules and offers great benefits. Co-workers range from extremely friendly and great to work with to agonizing to be around.

    Cons

Although they are great in terms of benefits and work place culture, what it comes down to is pay. I was hired at a low wage and have suffered because of it. I moved to a different office with more expensive housing and cost of living and still make the same pay. Getting a COL raise every year will never make up for it. There is also very little room for growth for Non-legal employees.

  6. "Corporate Paralegal"

    Pros

Collaborative work environment where you can easily walk from office to office for information from associates. Plenty of after work get togethers.

    Cons

The work can absolutely be dry and boring at times. The partners in the company are also typically "ghosts" around the office, only seen a few times per year.

    Advice to Management

More team building events to bring everyone together, from partners in the company down to the first year associates and or assists.

I have been working at Fenwick & West full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fenwick really tries to make people happy through events and happy hours and fitness incentives. The people are extremely welcoming and warm, even the attorneys. The overall culture is young and fun but it is still a a law firm.

    Cons

The middle management in this company has a lot of problems. In some departments, the management acts more like military officers and do not like any sort of opposition regardless of how insightful or constructive it may be. There is extremely high turn over as of late because of people being over worked and under appreciated. There have been plenty of red flags about several members of management but they are still working at Fenwick. If you are going to be working as a staff member here, I highly recommend not giving your opinion or input on anything, it will just get you into trouble.
