    Pros

Great benefits, great training, good pay for experience levels

    Cons

communication not always clear and concise, if your not in the clique of your local management group then your dead in the water professionally.

    Advice to Management

Let your managers manage (this is what you pay them to do). If your just needing to employ someone to turn on and off the lights daily then don't call them a manager.

I worked at Ferguson Enterprises full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

In the 10 years I was there I worked with some of the greatest people ever. Nice employee discounts, good match on 401k, once again the people you work make the job.

    Cons

It's who you know, not what you know. 50-60 hour weeks, very little appreciation given and upper management doesn't know the difference between being a great leader vs. just a manager. They lost touch with what incredible customer service is and how at one point it separated Ferguson from everyone else. Flat 1-2% annual increases and after helping them achieve record breaking years the bonuses are insulting to the effort that was given. You're made to believe you're not worth what you're paid and you should feel lucky to receive a 2% increase. There was a time I'd never leave that company for anything because I truly believed in their upper management and philosophy but how quickly things change when you become another AA #. Current and past associates will know what I mean by that comment.

    Advice to Management

Advice, make certain you're putting the right Area branch managers and Directors in place to lead properly into the new BMI world, because what I saw over the two years of transition, I and many others lost faith in the organization because of those poor choices. And never forget what took Ferguson to the juggernaut it is today...your associates.

    Pros

Great career if you like selling plumbing! There are other things to sell as well so make sure you enjoy what you're selling.

    Cons

Many complaints from employees on unpaid overtime. As a branch manager I worked on average 75+ hours a week minimum to make budget.

    Advice to Management

Remember who does the work on the front line and work with them, help them. Train them properly and see how hard their job can be. It's about creating trust.

    Pros

Large company with opportunities to grow and move around
    Performance based raises
    Benefits

    Cons

No decision making - all handled by HQ
Lots of micromanaging from above. This company is a well oiled machine that requires lots of reports and compliance. "Paralysis by Analysis"
Starting to move to retail and requiring employees to work on Saturdays

    Advice to Management

Stay connected to lower level employees for better retention.

I worked at Ferguson Enterprises full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good values even though my managers didn't practice them. Strong HQ support.

    Cons

Micro management. My customers were very upset my boss let me go after 9yrs and threw Ferg's quotes in the trash after I was let go. Mgmt only cares about how they look on paper and not about they people that got them there.

    Advice to Management

Fire the good ole boy managers and start over. My boss was connected with the Regional and District managers. He used smoke and mirrors to make himself look good. No matter how well my branch preformed ultimately he took the credit for it even though he never helped or attempted to assist me to reach out to my customers. The only time I heard from him was when sales were down and if I had a Stellar month all I would get was "what does next month look like"
