I have been working at Ferguson Enterprises full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Worry only about yourself. Quarterly Bonuses based on your proficiency, safety, and attendence. The more hours you work and the higher your percentage , the more money you earn. The hourly pay is about as good as it gets for the position in the area.

    Cons

Most machines are outdated, and its a race to get clocked in and claim one that isnt outdated. Though they are suppose to be getting 20 new machines and retiring old ones soon. Getting an old machine to work with can really hurt your percentage! Alot of the necessities are also broken and outdated. The job is manageable though.

    Advice to Management

    Treat everyone the same.

I have been working at Ferguson Enterprises full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some positions have work from home option
Pay is about average for the area
Jeans and tennis shoes every day

    Cons

Management is not engaged with teams
Cliques and exclusion(employees with managers) which creates a negative and hostile work environment
    Training- what training
No upfront PTO, it is accrued like back in the 1990's. If you do get some though it is tough to get it approved unless it is a medical emergency or death.
Unsafe! Multiple break-ins of cars, active shooters in the past couple of years, Popeyes and Miller Mart in the parking lot are robbed weekly
Building is old and smell weird, gave me headaches, doctor thinks its mold

    Advice to Management

Stand up and move things ahead and stop being comfortable and accepting that "this is just how Ferguson is"- it does not have to be!

I have been working at Ferguson Enterprises full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Basic health, 401k, dental, a set work schedule and a almost decent starting salary.

    Cons

This company will lure you in to the job with an average salary that seems reasonable for the job. However, regardless of your performance do not expect to get a an actual raise. This company will only give raises based off of years and years worked with the company. And not based on the actual workload you do. So if you do 3x as much as someone that's been here 10 years, Expect to remain at half their pay ( your starting salary) until 4 or 5 years with the company. So feel free to coast at the minimum. Effort is not rewarded whatsoever. Also never expect the company to do anything for its employees. No christmas , Thanksgiving, new years parties. No company outings, nothing. Period. If you are looking for a place that rewards hard work and values employees and a good work atmosphere avoid this company. If you are fine with coasting and collecting a moderate paycheck this is the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Pay people that put in the work. You track everything so it wouldnt be a problem to pay people for working hard. Do something for the employees. Buy them a nice dinner, or have group outings, or just anything that a normal company that actually cares about its employees would do.

I worked at Ferguson Enterprises full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fast paced environment, you can really learn the ropes of the plumbing industry.

    Cons

    Long Hours

Crappy Pay for unbelievably hard work

No incentive to really take care of the customer and get them the absolute best product, it doesn't pay as well as hocking Ferguson "private label" merchandise. You become a slave to what they want you to sell.

Commission structure sucks - if you have a return or huge appliance sale in one pay period it can bring down your entire average pay percentage wise, so even if you sold things at a high margin, you still make less than one percent commission... you should be paid per item you sell.

No understanding of family life - no flexibility in hours

Management is poorly trained for their positions, little understanding of HR norms

Sexual harassment is the norm...always skirting the line of what's appropriate

Good Old boys/Only trainees get promoted

Customers are valued only for their $$$, associates are valued even less

Management has access to perks and parties that are never open to sales people - you know the people generating your paycheck??

Regularly was encouraged to skip lunch to help walk in customers

unrealistic expectations of what you can accomplish in one day

zero administrative support from client services - poorly trained support staff = little accountability, constant passing of the buck back to sales staff

    I could go on...and on

    Advice to Management

Get your head out of the clouds, treat your employees as people and don't constantly swoop in and fix problem customers. Hold the line and support your employees, we are in the trenches everyday and when you "save the day" you make your subordinates look like jerks who can't do their job.

    Pros

Benefits, relocation accommodations, financially secure company

    Cons

To get anything done (updating showroom tags or a new card reader)is a lengthy process. Excessive punishment to undeserving employees.

    Advice to Management

I used to be proud to work here before I was shocked to hear how they treated one of the trainees. He was a very hard worker but people love to gossip and they will believe anything.
