    Pros

    Reputable firm specialising in insolvency
    Amazing opportunities for junior staff
    Intelligent and hard working partners
Market leaders in certain industries like mining and retail
    Exposure to complex insolvency work
You will develop great technical skills
    Great alumni and network
Opportunities to go on secondment internally and externally domestically and internationally

    Cons

Can be perceived as bit of a boys club, old school and unprofessional
Profits are not invested in back office so limited support
Management style of some partners and directors is very abrupt and not conducive to learning
Partners operate in fiefdoms and silos

    Advice to Management

Bring in new blood (although managing partner is stepping down soon)
    Invest in back office infrastructure
    Improve corporate governance

    Pros

Good colleagues to work with. Social events are pretty good too

    Cons

Boys club mentality, pay is a joke, so are the BS annual reviews!
Partners are terrible- they are aggressive and volatile.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your staff better!

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Ferrier Hodgson full-time

    Pros

Interesting work and the work is better than other accounting roles

    Cons

Boys club mentality/bullying culture is embarrassing. Pay is below average for the hours worked (60+ hour weeks easily). Not willing to invest appropriately in staff. Poor leadership. Over the years have lost incredible staff who were the only ones who knew anything technically. In result of the above, staff morale is low and younger staff struggle to learn.

    Advice to Management

Zero to minimal confidence in the leadership. Massively resting on their 'brand'. There is a reason that staff 40 (out of maybe 80) staff have voluntarily left in the last years.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Ferrier Hodgson full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some good people and team lunches. That is all, I have to write this fill up the 20 minimum word limit.

    Cons

Almost everything, went through multiple changes of HR, almost one staff resigning per month since late 2014, boys club, potential change to new managing partner does not bring renewed confidence but rather regression

    Advice to Management

Listen to the 20+ issues raised during the staff survey instead of regurgitating generic solutions. The solutions provided for the 20+ issues are not SMART. Solutions are supposed to bring hope and renewal of confidence and not renewed acknowledgement of a regressing company!
