I have been working at Fiberlink full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The culture here at Fiberlink has been well maintained even through the acquisition with IBM, which is sometimes hard to do with any company merger. Small company feel with a big company name. Still very collaborative and team oriented, with the company as a whole having one common goal and belief in our product.

As a developer, I find that the environment is conducive to collaborative thinking and finding the best solutions and ways of dealing with issues that can come about due to our constantly changing and developing industry.

    Cons

Demands are high but work life balance is there. Must be able to quickly adapt to a constantly evolving industry.

    I worked at Fiberlink full-time

    Pros

Pizza fridays, software engineers, facilities, and the software were all major pros. The sale to IBM certainly paid off for those that were there longer term.

    Cons

The C level and VP level have limited people skills and did not create a trusting culture. Sales experienced very high turnover.

    Advice to Management

Turnover hurts the client experience over time. Creating a more caring environment from leadership would build trust for more wins.

I have been working at Fiberlink full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities to work on cutting edge technologies. Challenges always keep coming and changing, to keep up with the latest mobile OS’s. Cloud delivery model allows you to stay very close to the customer.

    Cons

Weekend work is sometimes required, but you do have the flexibility to disappear during the week to offset.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing it top notch talent to keep the product growing.

Stay clear on goals and direction. Continue to communicate early and often.

I have been working at Fiberlink full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people are fun and warm and a great team to work with. They are helpful and knowledgeable. The management team are very supportive.

Flexible work schedule. It is great to be able to work from home once a week. Or not have to kill yourself by driving in snow/ice by opting to work from home during a snow storm.

The pay is really good, and the benefits are great.

    Cons

Horrible training. This job is definitely not for everyone. You have to already have an IT background to ensure you are not completely lost. They pretty much throw you in and though they are helping you answer questions it does feel like it's sink or swim.

Within a week, no more than 2 weeks, you are answering phones, emails, and chats all at the same time with little knowledge about the product. It can be a bit overwhelming.

However, the people there are great and very helpful, so it's somewhat impossible to sink. But you definitely feel like you are sinking/drowning everyday. It will most likely get better when you finally understand everything. But until then a very intense position.

    Advice to Management

I recommend coming up with a new hire training program and giving employees at least 3 weeks to a month before having them work on everything at once.

I have been working at Fiberlink (More than 3 years)

    Pros

location, colleagues, free coffee, having IBM on your resume. Previously Friday lunch, but that has even been rationed out as of late.

    Cons

-They promise you the world before you walk in the door, yet very few actually reap the rewards. This is due to over saturation of the sales team and shrinking territories, but most importantly the favoritism that exists throughout the entire executive team.
    - Favoritism is based not on who has worked hard and closed business, yet whom they anoint as their 'Chosen Ones'.
-MDM is a luxury technology, and the sales cycles for even the smallest, most transactional deals, are drawn out sometimes 12+ months
    - Unless you are a very select, unjustly chosen few, you are responsible for self sourcing 100% of your opportunities and prospects. This is something they do not properly convey to potential candidates in the interview process, and thus most reps are bitter by their 3rd or 4th month at the company.
    - Ethics do not exist on the sales team.

    Advice to Management

    - I honestly don't know where to start.

I worked at Fiberlink as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lower echelon employees are great people, company provides perks, free coffee & lunch on Fridays.

    Cons

Fiberlink's upper echelon lacks people skills, lacks communication skills and are dismissive to their employees. There is an air of bate and switch so they can gloss over what is really going on. Sales tells half truths to the customers and a gotcha attitude prevails. Buyers beware....

    Advice to Management

With the changing of the guard, one can hope that IBM will weed out the bad apples and make things better.

I have been working at Fiberlink full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I've been working here for the past 5 years, and Fiberlink provides:
    1. Great work environment/culture
    2. Great commission structure
    3. several resources to assist with your day to day prospects
    4. an award winning, always evolving solution that ANY organization should be looking for security/management of smartphones and tablets.
    5. Pizza Fridays!

    Cons

Not that this is a con...but since there are major releases to the platform once every 3-4 weeks, it can take up to 6 months for a new hire to fully understand the product and sales process. As long as you are willing to work hard to understand this process, there is NO reason why you cant succeed here.
