I worked at Fibernetics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed building hardware and writing software to match their needs. I enjoyed putting a well functioning computer department together.

    Cons

Too much inter-office arguing. Unmotivated employers and employees.

    Advice to Management

They need Department Quality Teams. They need to implement Employee Training sessions.

    I worked at Fibernetics full-time

    Pros

-The company works really hard at creating a positive work culture, and in my opinion they have succeeded.
    -Flexible working hours.
-Awesome office with a stocked kitchen, free parking, a gym, just to name a few.
    -Friendly staff.

    Cons

-A bit more communication from management on overall company objectives and their plan to achieve these objectives would be beneficial.

I have been working at Fibernetics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really great people, relaxed work environment and great culture. Can take breaks when you please, in house gym, no micro management, appreciation from upper management of a good job done, can listen to music while working. Focus on mental well being

    Cons

Smaller company so less opportunities for a career in upper management. Less job security than a large business and can be a bit draining doing calls

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Expand horizons in terms of different markets

I have been working at Fibernetics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The start up and entrepreneurial spirit of the company is still strong and a number of employees throughout the organisation still carry that mentality today. The company has been growing at a steady pace which time and time again brings new challenges and it really takes the right mindset regardless of the management or leadership to see the potential and all the opportunity this sort of environment has.

Collaboration is well promoted by the leadership team and employees are given the right amount of space and opportunity to be successful in all departments.

For technology oriented resources(of all sorts) this is a play ground with the best in class equipment and overall technologies used with endless opportunities to learn and be exposed to this great technology stack.

For non technology resources, opportunity is always given to get involved and help further mature tools and processes through open collaboration.

    Cons

Focus in the past was strong on growth which distracted departments from maturing and investing the right amount of time and money in tools and improving processes...this has changed dramatically over the last year but the company still has a ways to go.

Resources that are used to heavily documented and (over) structured environments do suffer here so expect to roll your sleeves up to get involved!

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to your employees and continue to promote collaboration - this has really started to turn things around this year...

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Fibernetics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

"Happiness culture" with loads of social events and work parties
You can screw up royally and not be held accountable since hardly anyone notices
You can be late and take many breaks as long as your workload doesn't suffer
Kitchen with vending machines and TV

    Cons

Management has no idea what is going on
Departments do not communicate well together (the left hand does not know what the right is doing)
Lack of cohesion between departments breed tribalistic anger between staff
Expectations are unreasonable, but staff who fail to meet them are not punished, resulting in large amount of poor performance and errors

    Advice to Management

Take a walk around the building. Meet people. It is ironic that you advocate so much social stuff but haven't got the darndest clue what is going on in the lower levels. It's as if you don't think anything is wrong as long as you turn a profit. Your company is falling apart from within. Just because the guys at the top are loving life does not mean you're doing well for everyone else.

    Pros

    The employees are fantastic people

    Cons

The owners and management of this company are extremely devious and sneaky. They present solutions and future plans behind smoke and mirrors. They frequently went back on their words and also handled employees leaving or being fired with zero class or respect.

    Advice to Management

Do not claim to have an amazing culture when in reality you treat employees with no respect.

I have been working at Fibernetics full-time

    Pros

Great place to work if you liked high school or enjoyed a frat or sorority in post secondary.
    Laissez faire attitude towards attendance.
Lots of ways to avoid actual work ( ie. Unnecessary meetings, clubs and activities).
Leadership too far out of touch with staff to notice or care about sub-par work.
Executive willing to make up and accept excuses for professional failings.

    Cons

    Clique-y.
Lack of accountability, despite it being a "core value.
    Fiscally irresponsible.
Prone to knee jerk reactions that cause deeper problems. Alternatively, turn blind eye to other clearly identifiable issues.
    An operational mess.
Consistently half bake plans that waste "bandwidth" and don't come to fruition.
    Worth repeating: fiscally irresponsible.
Executive unwilling to accept guidance from non-syncophants.

    Advice to Management

Be careful who you surround yourself with.
Be aware of your own limitations and how they directly impact the company and your abilites to successfully lead it.

I have been working at Fibernetics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company strived to create a positive company culture that promoted good mental and physical health practices and a work life balance.

    Cons

Lack of job security, work overload, poor communication from upper management, not much room for career advancement within the company.

    Advice to Management

Focus on gaining trust back from your employees and maybe then you might be able to repair the culture. Company culture only exist when everyone buys in. Understand your employees, see how hard they work, empower them.
