I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good training with helpful people

    Cons

Didn't get a chance to do what I was trained for before I was let go.

    Advice to Management

If you want a specific role, ask for that role not something else. (Was trained as a QA and did nothing but SA and SE work)

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

For entry level associates it is great place to start, most associates have to go through the leap program now but great program for associates to assimilate to the work force.

    Cons

A lot of politics. You will be told this constantly "perception is key" Perception sometimes is more important that actually getting work done.

    Advice to Management

Know what each salary level is and treat them accordingly.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time

    Pros

Culture is great here and the company really tries to maintain a higher retention rate by building careers internally. They want to see you advance. Work life balance depends directly on the nature of your job.

    Cons

Upper management has been trying to improve by having reorganizations. This causes a lot of confusion and discomfort among associates. On boarding process can be a lot better. Minimal training was offered and little team building exercises. Personally speaking, my onboarding process was nonexistent because management was tied in with reorganizations and retention rate was low.

    Advice to Management

From SVP down, make an effort to listen to associates on what they would like to see.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time

    Pros

Fidelity Investments is a great place to start your career. I started right out of college 2 years ago and the starting salaries are competitive. Plus, you get amazing benefits such as dollar for dollar match on 401K up to 7%. In addition they give you 10% of your salary for profit sharing at the end of the year. I have worked with a lot of very intelligent people that challenge me everyday to make me better. I enjoy the challenge because if we aren't helping each other improve and to learn new things a job can get stale very quickly.

    Cons

While the salaries are competitive at the beginning the raises are almost none existent. And, to get a promotion is even more difficult. If your looking for somewhere to grow quickly then Fidelity isn't the place for you unless your lucky. Also, there is a lot of politics involved in this company. You will see coworkers move past you that are terrible at their jobs (borderline clueless as to what is going on), but network very well and talk to the right people. This can be very discouraging to those who actually try and work hard. Because, at the end of the day your picking up their slack and they're reaping the benefits.

    Advice to Management

Rewards those who actually work hard for you and not your favorites!

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay you receive coming out for entry level is great. The benefits you receive are okay, especially living during training since it's free.

    Cons

The training itself was horrible, Fidelity does a terrible job in teaching this program. The management is helpful at all... They are more about the program expanding instead of individual trainee's learning. Such a sad program. If you have multiple offers, I would think deeply when considering this one.

    Advice to Management

Try to care about your trainees and not belittle them.

I worked at Fidelity Investments as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very welcoming environment. Work is engaging and interesting. There was a steep learning curve, but team members are always more than glad to help.

    Cons

Workload depended on which manager and team you were assigned to. Some interns were always busy with project and others sat around most of the time not being productive.

    Advice to Management

Management is always respectful and makes you feel like their equal. Not too much to say on that front, but keep doing what you're doing.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You will get decent experience in the Financial industry.

    Cons

Like most companies, it really depends on the group you land in. Some can be really good, others more like a death march.

I worked at Fidelity Investments as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    + Good pay
    + Good benefits
    + Friendly people
+ Plenty of room for development
+ Opportunity to work from home

    Cons

    - Great internship opportunities, but no room to experience and view other job positions.

    Advice to Management

Even though I liked my time at Fidelity Investments, I think the talent management can do a little better by expanding intern duties to different areas so they can experience what QA, Systems Analysts, and Infrastructure positions entail and what they have to offer.
