I have been working at Fidelity Investments (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Vacation, 401k match, insurance, Licensing

    Cons

Fidelity caters to new hires. They are like comcast: Throw the world at you if you are a new employee, but the people that have worked here and put their time in, and actually contribute to the company are rewarded with the opportunity to do more work.
Every benefit is designed to get people in the door. New hires got a 12% bump in pay, plus a signing bonus of $2500. I have worked here for almost 10 years and I get to do my job, the help desks job, and the new hires job, and don't get so much as a thank you. Too much middle management that has no idea what goes on on the phones. Work is not challenging. Roles are not defined. Who does what... No one knows.
Meet your sales number? Here's a Snickers bar.
    Pay is low.
I'm sure that there are some people that enjoy their work, but in the Active Trader group, the morale is low, attitudes are awful, and suggestions are ignored.
Work site is in a horrible location- every time you go outside, you are accosted by homeless people for money. Building is not owned by company.

    Advice to Management

Pay people. Don't congratulate me on a 1% raise and then tell me the company is more profitable than it ever has been. Give your workers an identity, don't homogenize every job so that no one knows where one stops and another starts.
Invest in your people... with money! You say you want to be #1 in customer service, but when it comes to pay, we have to see what other companies are paying- in other words "You get what you pay for."

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time

    Pros

Salary and benefits are far above average.

    Cons

Everything else. Work/life balance is non existent. Even when you are at home, you are at work. The environment is so toxic and pervasive that I began to question core beliefs I have held my whole life. People are thought of as components and treated as such.

    Advice to Management

The ills of this company are endemic and a symptom of a large organization. No thing said here would change any of that.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great buildings & Cafeterias
    Tons of money for projects

    Cons

Old-school Fidelity execs (all 15++) make decisions on technology they know nothing about.
Old-school IT setup - no enablement
Treats employees as enemies to be watched and non-trusted
    Process heavy everything

    Advice to Management

Let some new blood with deep experience in! Then support (not undercut) them

I have been working at Fidelity Investments as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Reduced lunches, but they taste like garbage. The bad here far outweighs the good, at least in their IT departments. Pros just arent worth mentioning.

    Cons

Frequent mass layoffs. 10, 15, 20+ years with the company. They don't care! They will gladly take your job and offshore it to India if they can save a little money. Your loyalty means nothing to this company.

    Advice to Management

When you join a company, you become part of that company's family. If this is how you treat family, I feel sorry for your customers. You should be embarrassed and ashamed of what you're doing to loyal employees. It really is no wonder why you aren't attracting any big new customers. You're disgusting.

This was a great place to work. They provided seminars, mentors and great projects for the interns. I had the opportunity to do a lot of networking.
