I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Private company. The Johnson family is committed to the company & its clients. Reputation for innovation, eye toward the future, investing in latest technology and not afraid of shaking things up periodically. Great benefits. Great strides in opening up transfers to other Fidelity lines of business for employees wishing to transfer.

    Cons

Seemed to fall behind in leadership recently, allowing competitors to jump in and grab credit for lowering commissions, other mgmt fees, introducing lower cost robo-advisor platform. Mgmt did not tolerate and ushered in environment of encouraging change in all levels of organization. Tone however seemed to be directed at older, longer term employees being labeled higher paid, against change and holding back career of younger workers. I reluctantly accepted Fidelity's voluntary buy-out (VBO) sensing I would regret it down the road.

    Advice to Management

Today's new hires need quicker career advancement than previous generations. Consider more training rotations, introducing employees to more Fidelity lines of business's and cultures so they don't judge Fidelity by just their current job function. Please stop the meaningless awards & recognition (participation trophies) to people who didn't truly contribute anything to the company or the client. It demeans the people who are attempting to pioneer change by providing open, honest and productive feedback.

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits were great. After five year, you can get around five weeks of pto. 401k marching is great too. They also have tuition reimbursement

    Cons

Too many meetings and meetings about meetings. There seem to be too many layers of management also. Cut some of those out.

    Advice to Management

Cut back on meetings. Everything else was great!

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits are unsurpassed. From student loan aid, 401k matching and amazing health insurance; it's very hard to find another employer who comes close

    Cons

It's a really large company with a lot of bureaucracy. It's very hard to get any process changed with out endless emails and meeting with later upon layer of management

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great quality work as you guide clients through their investment plans, whether for retirement or any other goal

    Cons

Disjointed Technology. Four different compensation plans in three years. Minimal training up front, learned more from colleagues in my first live week on the job.

I worked at Fidelity Investments as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Manager, up to date technology

    Cons

Post jobs only because its required by law. They already know to whom they are giving the job. They pretend the company is open to employees seeking new opportunities, but in actuality they want you to stay in the same position. Not open to diversity (minorities).

    Advice to Management

I worked at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits- 401k matching and profit sharing, generous PTO, pretty campus not that you'll get an opportunity to enjoy it while shackled to your desk

    Cons

They have an unrealistic profit margin goal (28% - 2x the industry average) and they are not above sacrificing anyone and anything to get there.

    Advice to Management

Maybe consider lowering your outrageously high bonuses before sacrificing so many front line employees

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are some of the best in the industry. The 401K match, profit sharing, bonus opportunities, student loan payments, etc. No firms currently come close to matching that level of benefits. They offer a lot of career paths and do a great job at hiring internally.

    Cons

With all of the job growth in the DFW metroplex, they are starting to struggle with talent retainment. There have been a few retention packages offered, but they are not working. FPCMS in WLK has gone through several leaders. The decisions made at times seem to contradict the firms values. The current leaders have their select few chosen ones, who can do no wrong. However, it is apparent that they have their own form of nepotism. They will force out people who may block their people from getting promo'ed. This has happened time and time again. People are taking on roles that they lack the qualifications for, just because they are favorites.

    Advice to Management

If one particular person or group keeps cycling through individuals at both the staff level and the manager level, there is a clear problem. Moving the problem does not solve the issue. It only empowers those individuals further due to others knowing the issue is not getting dealt with, and it is up to others to learn to work around it. This is specific to FPCMS in WLK. Other areas are great.

I have been working at Fidelity Investments full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay and benefits are good, maternity and paternity leave, great culture, casual dress, on site cafeteria, advancement opportunities after a year

    Cons

It is a call center environment, so that has its own drawbacks but Fidelity does its best to make it worth it.
