I have been working at Fidessa full-time

    Pros

A great place to start your career
Exposure to a broad aspect of electronic trading and the banking industry.
    Good training opportunities
    Nice work/life balance
    Friendly people
Very relaxed environment, could also be a nice place to retire

    Cons

Some will love it, some will hate it. Always depends on the team you'll join. Each team is using different technologies.
Low salary for this industry and when taking into account how much Fidessa is charging it's customers (quite a lot!)
Some old technologies are still there and used, but this is so hard to change especially in this industry
No matter how motivated you are or how much work you're willing to do, you will still get the same fixed pay rise as everyone else.

    Advice to Management

Offer more competitive salary. A lot of people tend to leave after some period because the pay is not competitive.

I have been working at Fidessa (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Secure and comfortable place to work. Not sure how pay fares relative to financial industry, but better than other spheres such as web development and engineering. Free breakfast. Extra curricular activities and events.
Flexible working, including option of some home working.
Good place to start out as graduate, or if you have been here a long time and know of nothing else, but maybe not for more experienced personnel

    Cons

Exposure to only a limited breath of the applications, and lifecycle. No standardisation of working practices amongst different teams. Software developed within fixed frameworks, with little opportunity for innovation.
    Little cross team communication.
Some people abuse flexible working options where it is available, and in some teams it is not even an option.

    Advice to Management

Encourage more cross fertilisation between staff and teams to expose employees to a wider spectrum of the business and processes.
Standardise development methodology and flexible working options across all teams.

    Cons

There are several things that comes in mind after I was leave a company almost 5 years ago. Not really personal development opportunities as well as career opportunities.

    Advice to Management

More support to your employees. Proper set them goals. Do not hesitate speak one to one.

I have been working at Fidessa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good work life balance.
    Friendly.
    Flexible.
Fairly stable company, so you can expect to have a very secure working life once you become an employee.

    Cons

As a developer, it's frustrating to work with very old technologies, building software on top of pre-historical infrastructure. The company does not show any enthusiasm in employing the most recent technologies / programming languages.

Not so easy to progress your career as there are so many older employees which have been in the company for decades.

Salaries lower than the average in the market.

    Advice to Management

Be aware that while older people are happy with things, young and new employees are frustrated with the technologies used and the lack of enthusiasm for creating new things

I have been working at Fidessa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice people who are willing to help you, Processes and Procedures are fairly straightforward and make sense, Lots of training offered, Free breakfast and subsidised cafe is a bonus. Great work life balance as 9-5 is what's expected.

    Cons

Team atmosphere varies so your experience at Fidessa largely depends on which team you work in. Some can be quite strict, others more relaxed so it's important to find where you fit.
I found you have to fight for career progression rather than being offered it so after a couple of years people tend to move on.

Pay is below market rate for the area and especially so compared to London where there's more opportunity if you're happy with the commute.

    Advice to Management

Reward high performers without them having to beg for promotion/pay rise.
