I worked at Fifth Third full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The overall company goals and vision are very strong and will continue to lead it in the regional market. The company has a good focus on the customer and much of the Branch Operations and general consumer lending is strong.

    Cons

The Mortgage company side of the bank leaves a lot to be desired. In the last several years there have been a high number of Senior Manager changes with each identifying new agendas and changes they wish to implement. In the last year specifically it feels like the emphasis on their employees has gone away.

    Advice to Management

The high change over in the direction by the Senior managers has made the environment very disengaging often resulting in higher turn over. Most truly enjoy their direct manager but outside of that specific contact there is very little trust in much of the requests and changes being made.

    Pros

Provided the ability to drive projects and create a working environment that allows you to perform at your best.

    Cons

Training and development is the sole responsibility of the individual. The finance organization do not offer any formal or continuous training.

Management is only concern with meeting revenue expectations. No focus on employee engagement.

    Advice to Management

Great opportunity to get your feet wet, but I wouldn't consider this career opportunity long term.

    -Good benefits

-Team members I work with were all nice, conscientious, and cared for one another

    Cons

Regarding working in corporate in Cincinnati: if you did not go to the right high school and/or one of 5/3's 7 chosen colleges, you will have a difficult time moving up. This type of nepotism is rampant.

    Advice to Management

Open your horizons, hire/promote people who make the bank better instead of telling you what you want to hear
