I worked at Fifth Third part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved fifth third, they always made you feel great to be an employee there.

    Cons

You didn't move anywhere, a lot of promises to move up that never happened.

I have been working at Fifth Third full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Compensation is strong. Bank is headed in right direction with investment in analytics. Old office space is being converted to more modern space.

    Cons

Constant leadership attrition. Like many banks, 5/3 is slow to adapt to change. Open concept floor plans are being developed about 20 years too late.

    Advice to Management

Stop firing people and develop them

I have been working at Fifth Third full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Long history in the community

    Cons

All decisions are very political in nature and bottom line over employees. They allow many employee activities but other than allowing the employees to participate they sponsor nothing. Example: If you department want to go to a Reds game, they allow you to go during company time but any cost is cover by the employee, they cover nothing. they don't even provide coffee in the office. There is a cash box and you must pay for each cup of coffee you drink.

I have been working at Fifth Third part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits for both full time and part time employees, along with 2 weeks vacation for part timers as well. First company I've worked for that offers the same benefits to part time employees as they do full time. The pay is average for the industry but they do give you incentive pay based on your sales.

    Cons

Management will tell you what you want to hear, just to get good results and not hold up there end of the deal. Getting promoted can take multiple years and it's not worth the extra $1 on the hour. The company would rather pay an outside candidate more to fill the position rather than pay their current, already trained employees to advance

    Advice to Management

Stick to your word. Remind employees that hard work is appreciated

I worked at Fifth Third as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great people and great culture
    - Looks good on resume
    - You are able to meet with a lot of upper management on the steering committee
    - They have a lot of "lunch and learns" so you can learn more about the company
    - Great pay and good work life balance

    Cons

    - On occasion you may sit there all day and not have a whole lot to do
    - It was sometimes a little unorganized
    - They act like everyone will receive a full-time offer, however, don't get your hopes up
    - Can get very boring

    Advice to Management

The leadership programs need to be a little more rigorous and structured.

Loud at times, medical insurance through the company is too expensive for employees at the entry level.

I have been working at Fifth Third full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn about the Institutional Asset Management business.

    Cons

    Lack of forward paths.
    Poorly thought out reorganizations.
    Low pay.

    Advice to Management

Create better paths for advancement, especially from your back and middle office areas. Pay scales are too wide and penalize internal transfer candidates over outside hires.
