I worked at Fifth Third (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Very flexible schedule.

    Cons

poor training. Out dated and old systems to approve loans. Slow process with to many hands in the pot to get things done efficiently

    Advice to Management

better training. put together an easier process from start to finish. Had multiple issues with closings because 5/3 uses an off shore closing team to generate documents. Which made finalizing the closing very difficult. Had to reschedule closings multiple times.

I worked at Fifth Third part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The branch I worked in was very friendly and I had a positive experience there. I worked in this position for about a year and a half before graduating college. It was ONLY positive because of the select few people I worked with.

    Cons

Throughout my time in a retail branch, I spent a lot of time applying for positions within the company for after graduation (with a bachelors degree in finance). The HR team was HORRIBLE about replying to these applications. I never heard responses. Fifth Third is too big for anyone to hear your opinions. Our branch was old and worn out. The company REFUSED to get us anything new (chairs, printers, shredders, etc.) They are all about SALES, SALES, SALES. If they claim to be customer-focused, that is the biggest lie I have ever heard. The benefits are mediocre and definitely not competitive with the industry. The pay is a complete joke for the amount of work you do. The turnover rate is ridiculous for a reason. After working here for a year and a half, I received a raise of 11 CENTS...yes, 11 cents. And that was for a 4.5 rating out of 5. That was a slap in the face. The company does not give promotional opportunities unless it's to benefit them. They're so stingy about everything and strict about time off. I can not express this enough...DO NOT WORK HERE.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to care about your employees. You spend so much money training new employees due to your turnover rate when you could be putting that money towards keeping your current employees. Spend time listening to employee suggestions and opinions. They cannot work efficiently if you refuse to update their equipment. Also, advice to HR, SPEED UP THE PROCESS. It is absolutely unacceptable to wait 3-4 months for a rejection letter. I am currently working for another bank, and Fifth Third does not even compare to the treatment I get here.

I have been working at Fifth Third full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and some great people here. I enjoyed just about everyone I came into contact with.

    Cons

If you aren't made of money, they definitely discriminate against you. I've seen my manager do some pretty horrible stuff and act downright rude to customers just because they didn't have money or were on the "wrong side of town".

    Advice to Management

Look out for the little guys. I understand you're a big corp but you need them too.

I have been working at Fifth Third full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

always in communication with other branches and easily accessible help lines. Lots of training is provided. 401k match up to 7 percent, stock options, paid holidays

    Cons

understaffed, micromanaged, underwriting is a complete nightmare. never apply for a loan through fifth third. every month there's a new task they want you to focus on in addition to the million other things you have to do during your day with minimal staffing and no overtime.

    Advice to Management

hire more people. we shouldn't have to explain to every customer that walks in that it's normal to run a branch with only two people because we aren't allowed any more employees
