I have been working at Fifth Third full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is competitive. Time off is fair. I like that I can buy and extra weeks vacation.

    Cons

Chicago region only cares about the bottom line. Nothing more. They work people like dogs to fulfil all of upper management micromanaging demands. You spend more time proving you are doing their menial tasks vs actually helping customers. And they are illegally figuring hourly employee pay. You have to log on to a computer to clock in and you are NOT paid for it. That’s class action lawsuit worthy. I have worked at a couple banks this one is by far THE WORST. RUN! Do not work here...

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees. Happy employees make happy customers. Most bankers I know HATE their job because Chicago leaders make life miserable. Micromanaging does nothing but loses you good people.

    Pros

The people. Management is wonderful and very helpful. They will work towards solutions.

    Cons

100% commission, on a draw. The processing needs serious work as it's too long and drawn out.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the draw for MLOs.

I worked at Fifth Third full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The best thing I can say is that I worked with some great people. However, that has nothing to do with the company itself.

    Cons

This company has absolutely no loyalty to its employees. They seldom promote from within and if you apply for positions internally they do not even give the courtesy of a phone call follow up.
If that's not bad enough they have recently been in trouble for redlining and they are not customer service centric.
I do not recommend working for or doing business with this company in any way.

    Advice to Management

There is good talent that comes through your doors. If you took more time to engage the talent you have and help them move toward higher goals you might retain staff.
