I worked at Finish Line full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount but its really limited lets just say they give you $3,000 to spent within the year. They say you can't buy anything but for yourself or if it is gift for someone.

    Cons

The company pay is not enough money to live. The company wants you to sell everything to the customers. They want you to sell clothing, socks, insoles, shoe laces & cleaners. When you start working for the company they make you take 40 tests. If you want to become assistant manager you take 90 tests. They will test you more for manager positions that only pays $12 hr. Company wants you to bring three pairs shoes to every customer for no reason. Company gives stores less hours to give employee only two days for each days 4 hours of work. They want you to sign people up with Sports Illustrated subscriptions free magazine for men 10 weeks kids 4 weeks but customer will get charges after 10 weeks. Company only cares about their money than their employee. If you want the company health insurance they will take bi-weekly $200-$500 & with co-pay like really. The company has change my district so many times. PTO: When you average 32-40 hours per week, you receive 1 hour PTO for every 40 hours you work. YOU WILL NOT WANT TO WORK FOR THIS COMPANY.

    Cons

Cheated on money no incentive to sell. They are just out to protect themselves. Doesn't not know how to treat Managers. Help to unrealistic goals.

I worked at Finish Line part-time

    Pros

You received an OK discount on shoes. The work environment was very relaxed. You can wear jeans, or shorts to work and gym shoes.

    Cons

Management was constantly changing, you need to know a lot about shoes because customers ask when the next big shoe gets released. Sometimes you need to jump on the sales floor without knowing how to sell.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you have a proper training orientation set in stone. I did not receive any training and was just thrown on the register and made a lot of mistakes.

    has plenty of benefits

    Cons

    Sometimes hires incompetent associates
    Mass Layoffs
    inconsistent hours
    team leads are glorified babysitters
    Favoritism is abundant
    inconsistency with punishments

Picked about 150 names out of a hat and then fired them...

I worked at Finish Line full-time

    Pros

    30% discount
    First dibs on certain product
Able to make your own schedule

    Cons

    Extreme favoritism
Working a 60+ hour work week regularly
Upper level management of poor character and integrity
No advancement past store manager unless your willing to suck up to your DM and tear all your other co workers down to get to the top

    Advice to Management

Stop attempting to lead by manipulation and intimidation. Those employees that are not easily intimidated and have the ability to read and comprehend policies will quickly loose interest in a company that continues these poor business practices. You should instead empower your DMs with training so they don't have to get a whole new store manager team in order to gain respect that they can't earn because of a lack of knowledge on simple interpersonal skills and basic knowledge of company policy and procedures.

    Pros

Discount on shoes, able to get early releases.

    Cons

Not enough pay. Managers at Finishline don't get paid much. Don't believe the hype.

    Advice to Management

People at the top should take pay cuts and work that money down to their employees.
