Great staff and great people to work with. They provide a great foundation of sales and employee development that i have carried over to other positions. The product training and special meetings with vendors allowed the individual to understand how the product was built and marketed. Great staff and great people to work with. No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The rest of the staff are really fun to work with , and you're always working around the coolest new shoes, clothes, etc. And a great 30% employee discount

    Cons

The management always pressures you into trying to sell all of the extra accessories and cleaners that people never want.

    Advice to Management

Management did a pretty good job, but could have done a little better recognizing when it was and wasnt the employees faults they werent hitting their numbers.

    Pros

Great management, and employee training program. Employees are trained in many aspects of customer service, and retail operations. Employees also leave with an exstensive knowledge of the selection, which directly affects your succes in sales.

    Cons

Depending on your store location, product selection is sometimes limited.

    Advice to Management

    Wider variety of products

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Friendly co-workers. Amazing discount for employees. Very understanding when it comes to taking time off. Overall great place!

    Cons

Sales goals are the worst. They force you to demonstrate shoe cleaning products, and that a lot of the time means rejection from customers.

    Advice to Management

Management was wonderful. I really never had any serious issues with my managers. They were very helpful and understanding towards me.

I have been working at Finish Line full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salaries and bonus program are very good for management. Amazing people to work with. The discount is very good. Technology has been updated and is among the best you'll find in the industry. Upper management is easy to get ahold of and will listen to whatever you have to say. Flexible scheduling. Fast paced environment makes the day go by quickly. Free shoes and other items from vendors from time to time.

    Cons

Long/Late hours at the worst times (Day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Morning after Christmas), always expect to be the last store to leave the mall on these days. Customer service and presentation expectations are not realistic given the always declining labor budget.

    Advice to Management

Sooner or later, the labor budget bubble is going to burst. You cannot continue to reduce hours and expect more production from your staff. We need more hours to create the store environment that you believe Finish Line should be. The stores you see on Executive visits isn't the real store. Look at the labor hours that get spent before these visits making sure the store is perfect. That takes away from the hours they should be spending on the customers experience throughout the week.
