I have been working at Finish Line (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is nothing positive about my experience.

    Cons

Incorrect pay, long hours with no breaks, POS issues. Don't waste your time. It's hard to be successful when not given the means to do so.

I have been working at Finish Line part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Finish Line really pushed my capabilites. The management staff really wanted our employees to want to work. It was a fun environment. It was definitely different because the mall we worked at was a tourist attraction, so we met all sorts of people from tourists who don't speak a lick of English, to celebrities that are very well-known. Meeting all the cool people was probably the best part about it.

    Cons

Some bad experiences I've had with The Finish Line, is outside of our immediate management staff, upper corporate management ONLY cared about our numbers, and if we didn't hit our numbers, it would be our fault. The only problem with that was like I mentioned, we were in a tourist mall. The majority of our customers did not speak English so we had a language barrier and we have lost some customers due to it, but we tried our best to find ways around it. When we tell upper corporate management the issues we're having, instead of helping us find a way to work around it, they just told us: "You guys just need to keep pushing then, no excuses." It was rough but we did manage to work around it, but it would've been nice to receive some help.

    Advice to Management

When an employee comes up to you and describes their issues, please know that they are coming to you looking for some kind of guidance.

I worked at Finish Line full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Highlight of any retail job would have to be the employees that you work with and this applies the same for FinishLine in the years that I worked there. Very flexible with schedules yet very limited with handing out hours, as always it will always reflect the performance of last year's numbers. It started off with base + commissions for assistant manager but in my last year the top dogs implemented bonuses, which is a blessing and a curse. A curse of course if you work at a store that have normally poor traffic and conversion of sales.

    Cons

Management, benefits and overtime restrictions in ratio to the back end workload.

    Advice to Management

Invest not just in your Store Managers but also everyone else below.

    Pros

Flexible work hours, unlimited vacation, benefits, 401k match

    Cons

Horrible leadership, never received full bonuses, people were scared to speak up because they'd be fired. And it really was a trickle down effect from the C-level execs that make the next level so bad.

    Advice to Management

Your managers know way more than you think. Empower them and let them thrive.
