I have been working at FireEye as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

great pay (interns make around $30/hour), many smart people, free snacks

    Cons

A lot of developers seem to have left recently, but they were replaced quickly after. I'm wary of why so many wanted to leave suddenly, as a college student, there were not many people on my team my age (most were 30+)

I worked at FireEye full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good place for freshers to start their career.

    Cons

The middle management does not have any zeal for innovation. They are waiting for FireEye to be acquired by some big company so that they could retire.

There are more manager than developers and more directors than managers.

Undeserving people get promoted only because they know how to manipulate.

Managers scream and yell at each others during meetings.

People having no experience in security domain define product road map.

People plagiarize and steal ideas only to file patent. They do not have any intentions of implementing it.

    Advice to Management

Layoff 75% of the managers and directors. They add value through redundancy.

I worked at FireEye full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are nice. Good worker bees. Relaxed environment. There are some smart people here. IT equipment is new and plentiful.

    Cons

Horrible management. They have good workers but there is no hint of strategy in this place. Relaxed environment came at a cost of lack of accountability.

    Advice to Management

Complete overhaul all the way to the top. It needs to be bought out and run by different people. How many years now without profit? It's a waste of the talent there.

I worked at FireEye full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Still have a sizable market share in security.
    2. Sandbox tech works very well.
    3. There are still a bunch of extremely smart people in Engineering and research.
    4. Catered lunch four days a week.
    5. Unlimited vacation (good if you are taking interviews to get out of this place).

    Cons

    1. Network engineering is headed by a spineless idiot who knows nothing.
    2. There is too much ego clash among managers in the company. Everyone is busy pushing their own stuff instead of looking out for the greater good.
    3. No clear path forward for employees to grow. Promotion is arbitrary and usually used as a pacifying measure.
    4. Way too many bad hires made in the past few years in the name of growth.
    5. Pay well below market rates.
    6. Lack of vision from upper management and product managers.

    Advice to Management

Hard decisions need to be taken. Bad people need to be let go of and new talent need to be hired. Pay engineers well, because unless you do that, you will fritter out in this hyper competitive market.

I have been working at FireEye full-time

    Pros

Good to learn technology while at work. Transparency from management is good, friendly work place. Support from management is also good.

    Cons

Not in a correct process oriented. Deployment takes too long. Need to push at work to get things done. No 401K matching.

    Advice to Management

Management is good and continue keep doing that in future too. Transparency is the one which gives confidence towards win win situation.

    Pros

    Good pay. Free snacks etc...

    Cons

Bad executive decisions and management. Making bad hires and grew just for the sake of growing and not getting quality people.

    Advice to Management

Hire right and quality people. Try keep them there. Don't just just grow just for the sake of growing head counts.

    Pros

-Cybersecurity is a fascinating topic, and is full of interesting drama
-company is at the bleeding edge of the battle, and is very successful at it
-the tech is comprehensive, yet constantly evolving (just like the threat landscape)
-people are really friendly, on-boarding process is thoughtful and well organized

    Cons

-Lots of aquisitions from last year are not yet fully integrated, although it appears progress is being made
-industry is crowded... Or ripe for consoldation, depending on your perspective

I have been working at FireEye full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, very supportive atmosphere, no-one backstabs you. Everyone is honest and transparent.
Support for innovation and creative thinking. No passive-agressive micromanagers (although I guess it depends on the team...), creative freedom during projects, moderately diverse environment (a lot more men than women in engineering). Development in C and Java, mostly. Free lunches, great benefits, a lot of leaning opportunities. Stock options, snacks, coffee, etc.

    Cons

People are mostly 30+ years old, so if you are looking for a younger crowd, you probably want to try something else. Company is big, and some of the technologies they use are kind of obsolete (ancient Cent OS distribution on all machine). A lot of changes are happening lately, and stock values slowly dropping down.

    Advice to Management

Be more precise about the project objective, more open to suggestion of employees. More vacations!
Set reasonable goals for the dev teams. More team building exercises and social events would boost morale up! But otherwise, great job!

I have been working at FireEye full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Within the Reston office there's still this start-up feel that makes everyday new and exciting. The team itself is full of friendly and very knowledgeable individuals which fosters growth and positivity. The technology that is worked on is innovative and exciting. Great pay.

    Cons

Still a sense of division between Mandiant and FireEye. Lack of communication between Milpitas and Reston offices.

    Advice to Management

Open more lines of communication. Work faster towards full integration between Mandiant and FireEye systems and networks.
