    I worked at Firespring

    Pros

The people and culture are amazing. Offer a vast array of products and services to clients. Very thorough and moderately priced. Pay is above average. Great reputation among clients and general public.

    Cons

Could use better benefits package, lots of meetings/bureaucracy to go through to get things changed

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. Most people leave due to pay or benefits.

I have been working at Firespring full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Wonderful, driven, hilarious people. The culture here is second to none. There is a hint of a cliquey feel in the Lincoln office, but it's not really that major of an issue. Upper management really does listen to every ounce of feedback they receive. Casual dress. Fun company events. Tapped keg and free soda. Sweet game room/social area. Unlimited PTO and sick time. If you have a good attitude and have other's backs,...

    Cons

They do have unlimited PTO and sick time, however, it's often difficult to find the time and opportunities to take advantage. (Though upper management does strive to ensure their team takes time off when they can.) You do have to be careful and make sure you draw lines in the sand when necessary. They will overload you on work if you let them. (Though, usually, all you have to do is speak up and management will take care...

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, honestly. Though, look into upping salaries of key employees ASAP. You may be on the verge of losing great talent and valuable team members due solely to poor pay. I honestly love almost everything about this company, but an offer for a more competitive salary would be hard to say no to.

I worked at Firespring for more than a year

      Pros

      - My direct manager was receptive to feedback and went to great lengths to ensure that we had someone to discuss issues with. - There is a pretty defined "lunch culture"; you're not expected to be at your desk 9 to 5, at least on the engineering teams. A 45 minute to hour long lunch break with co-workers was a normal occurrence. - Coming from a background without prior workplace experience in the engineering field,...

      Cons

      - No room for vertical or horizontal growth at Firespring if you do not want to be one of the many managers there. - Very loud workplace. Engineering was placed directly across a short divider wall from the client support team, so enjoy listening to CS explain how to setup email accounts day in and day out. If you prefer a quiet workspace where you can do things without blasting music, you probably want to look elsewhere....

      Advice to Management

The number of levels of management that one has to go through in order to raise problems was tedious, and often lead me to not actively pursue solutions to problems because I either already knew, or went ahead and assumed, that I would be bounced around from manager to manager. The day-to-day work was not stimulating, it was monotonous and it never felt like I was actually making a difference to non-profits. Your staff...

I have been working at Firespring full-time

      Pros

      - People genuinely care about the work that they do and making a difference. - CEO is extremely dedicated and talented. - Living a balanced life is supported by leadership. - Highly regarded by clients.

      Cons

      - Many people entrenched in old ways of doing things and not open to new ideas, which runs contrary to the CEO's motto. - Lot's of talk about change, but little action that can be felt by the greater employee population. - Difficult to advance in career because management keeps people in very specific lanes, creating a lack of exposure and cross-pollination that helps people grow.

      Advice to Management

The company could benefit from improved communication and more timely decision-making.

      I worked at Firespring

      Pros

Casual atmosphere with good work/life balance.

      Cons

Pay is low (they pay in culture); No room for advancement; Company constantly acquiring other companies and losing site of purpose

      Advice to Management

Treat all employees like they add value to the company. There is a strong organizational hierarchy that recognizes top managers.

      I worked at Firespring full-time

      Pros

Firespring feels like a family. The company culture is inclusive, where employees are treated with respect. If you experience something negative, the company takes that very seriously and works with the employee to make the situation better or find a solution.

      Cons

The compensation and benefits are way behind what other tech companies in Lincoln are offering. It is impossible to get a performance pay raise. Performance is measured on a quarterly basis, but even if you're a high performer, you are not likely to see that reflected in a pay raise. This forces high performers to look for jobs elsewhere and with Lincoln becoming more and more of a tech hub, those other jobs are not that...

      Advice to Management

Invest more in technology and the people currently working at the company. Constantly restructuring makes the employees feel like they are the next ones on the chopping block, adding to the general stress level of the workforce. Slow down!
