I have been working at Firmenich full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

benefits are great, the company has a profit sharing program, tuition reimbursement, 401k match and decent health insurance.

    Cons

management doesn't listen to employees, there is no opportunity for growth because they always hire from the outside instead of retaining talent. QC is particularly volatile. More than 1 employee per month is quitting. Bad news.

    Advice to Management

Care for the talent you have or else you will be in a situation where you have zero employees who know how to do the work. Additionally, if you are going to claim an increase in internal hires, you should probably try to internally hire employees instead of telling qualified employees that they will not get an interview (even without any outside prospects)

I have been working at Firmenich full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Range of creative, scientific, business, supply chain and support jobs. Global experience and mobility opportunities (at mid to high level positions). Good health benefits compared to many other companies. Company is strong financially and growing financially (but opportunities are being filled by outside talent, not internally)

    Cons

Pervasive clique-oriented culture and sink-or-swim for those not in a protected group, both which play key roles in advancement opportunities. Perception and network matters more than individual results.

Inequitable distribution of heads to sites in dire need.

Poor HR environment for quality employee support, growth, and development. Burnout becoming very pervasive, with company asking for more-and-more.

IS systems are cumbersome and poorly designed...creative more inefficiency instead of solving efficiency issues.

    Advice to Management

Take a step back and look at what your EMPLOYEES need to succeed. We are self-motivated group and do our best to be successful, despite constantly being trampled by the in-fighting and selfish behavior at director and VP-levels. REWARD the hard work and success instead of continuing to squeeze the stone.

I worked at Firmenich full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Working in such a big company, you can learn a great set of skills and experience professional growth with hard work.

Knowing French would help with career growth.

Great benefits. 14 days PTO to start then about 2 days increments every few years with carry over.

Pays for education, has profit sharing.

    Cons

Working in such a big company could also inhibit your career growth if you don't show your skills or make the right contacts within the company. Don't be shy!

Again, learning French or having similar influences will help with career growth.

    Advice to Management

    Promote local talent first...
