I have been working at First Busey full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company with a terrific culture. Growing organization which offers a rewarding challenge to folks who are looking to contribute. 150 Yr old organization which still feels young at heart and optimistic about where the company can go. Sr. Management accessible and willing to hear where there is room for improvement and will act on it. Great group of people who deeply care about the 4 pillars (Associates, Customers, Share Holders, Community) of the company, it is not just lip service.

    Cons

Healthcare benefits have room for improvement.

I have been working at First Busey full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to work for! Good benefits and great people to work with. Company genuinely works hard to meet the needs of its four pillars: Associates, Shareholders, Customers, and Community

    Cons

The diversity of it's employees dwindles the higher up the corporate ladder you go. This is probably the same for most large corporations.

I have been working at First Busey full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good programs and products. Fairly competitive rates and commissions. Good portfolio products. Well capitalized. Accessible local management. They do have some talented people.

    Cons

Lack of management at top. Lack of vision from executive team. Not very competitive on correspondent jumbo products. Pricing could be a little better.

I have been working at First Busey full-time

    Pros

Easy to move up if you do your job. Position availability is hard in some markets.

    Cons

Pay is on the low side

    Advice to Management

Look at reevaluating the pay scale.

I have been working at First Busey full-time

    Pros

The company is positioned very well in a highly competitive industry. Busey is big enough to meet the needs of its customers with the products and services that are expected and desired, but still small enough that customers don't just become a number and are cared for like a community bank.

The company is financially solid and sound with very high asset quality. Stock ticker: BUSE trades on the Nasdaq. Financial performance has been solid and dividends increased.

Good culture, management truly cares about the employees.

    Cons

There are frustrations at any company, and Busey is no exception. But for the most part, the vast majority of the employees care about their jobs and their customers. If there's one thing to improve upon, it would be to continue to improve communication throughout the organization.

    Advice to Management

Communicate effectively, keep the associates informed, stay focused on the Pillars. Continue to grow organically and through M&A so Busey remains Busey.

I have been working at First Busey full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Prove yourself and you will find opportunities for growth you wouldn't have received at another company. They'll assist you in continuing education (within certain fields)

    Cons

Sometimes upper-management is a little distant, but that's expected to a certain degree. The average salary does fall below other banks in the area, although the work environment and benefits help even things out.

    Advice to Management

Consider upping the game with salary/pay. The pay philosophy is fine in itself, but relative to other companies, you fall quite a bit short. It makes it hard not to leave when other companies offer significant amounts more and Busey says they won't consider even a slight raise.

I have been working at First Busey full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a good place to start, you'll learn a lot, but you do have to put your best out there to be recognized. If you do just as much as it is expected, probably you'll be just ok. I suggest to do beyond what is expected for your position and establish a good reputation within your department and outside of it.
It matters a lot who is your direct supervisor. You need to have an open communication relationship with your manager. He or she is the one that can help you grow and they will help you if you show them you want and you can do all it's requested and more.

    Cons

Low pay for new starting employees. However, you can grow with time.

    Advice to Management

Choose a strategy and follow through. Strategy changes can confuse people and make them anxious.
