I have been working at First Citizens Bank full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you are lucky to have a competent caring direct manager the job is bearable

    Cons

Micromanagement Too many bosses Too much internal competition No bonuses No incentives for tellers Very low pay for tellers Constant badgering to exceed goals that will only benefit top upper management Too many tasks for one person to be able to do a quality job Consistently understaffed Can’t retain decent employees Favoritism is rampant and being part of the “Good Ole Boys Club” is a requirement to get ahead

I worked at First Citizens Bank full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Small bank that is growing in technology to compete with larger banks. Most branches are feel personable and people know you by name. You build relationships with customers and help uncover resources. Receive a generous amount of PTO and I've almost always got the time I needed off approved. Quick advancement but you will plateau out unless you want a strict sales role.

    Cons

Upper management is disconnected from the branch and customer base. Management focuses more on the numbers (meeting goals/making profit) versus building a brand and aiding the customer. Complaints against upper management seem to go unnoticed. Nobody to hold them accountable. I've contacted HR and the representative have multiple jobs which I think interfere with being a nonbiased party.

I worked at First Citizens Bank full-time

    Pros

Plenty of PTO for work/life balance. Encouraged to volunteer and gives extra paid time to do the volunteer work. If you stand out and do great things, you will be noticed within the company and could excel. It is not frowned upon to be sick or take personal days.

    Cons

They treat their systemic cultural problems as individual-performance problems. They can't or refuse to see the broken culture so the higher ups (Executive Level) will move management around, change job titles, re-organize branches or departments and write new strategic goals. Promoting within is something that they like to take pride in, however everything either goes through the recruiter or through word of mouth from management. The recruiter will send the qualified candidates information, but they have no say so as to who they think "should" be chosen. They tend to promote and hire people who are simply not qualified to do the job. Many of their leaders are young and inexperienced with a lack of leadership and management skills. This causes huge problems within teams because employees are taught to respect the manager, but this young and inexperienced manager doesn't know how to communicate effectively to his/her team. Internal promotions do not require a person to be the most "qualified", you just need to be the most "liked". The HR department likes to stay on top of any pressing concern, but will only address them if they get a number of people expressing the same concern. FCB is hiring upper management (Rock Stars) from WF, BOA and ST who may be turning this relationship bank into a "widget sales" bank.

I worked at First Citizens Bank

    Pros

Follows the Federal Reserve holiday schedule.

    Cons

Upper management still follows the "Good Ole Boy" system and unless you are male or are part of the family owned business you don't get far. The Human Resources department is a joke and the most useless group of people. A lot of management personnel have the mentality of high school cliques.
