    Ability to work on your own.

    Cons

    Zero help with anything work related. You are in the wild west and completely on your own for everything that you do.

    Advice to Management

    Give help to your consultants and stop using a bullying approach to managing. Condescending style of management does not work!

    Pros

    Constantly hiring - but there is a reason for that: high turnover rate

    Cons

    Low pay - only chance to earn more is to volunteer for overtime, but there is very little of that.
    High turnover rate - constantly hiring and firing people. If you were there for a year, you were considered an old timer, that's how bad it is.
    All employees are considered expendable and can be laid off or fired at any time with no warning.
    Every single minute of idle time is counted against you.
    Very little vacation - accrue at 3.6 hrs per pay period.

    Advice to Management

    Stop treating people as expendable so that you can actually retain people for more than a year.

    Was let go after 15 years. No loyalty as they let go many seasoned employees.

    I worked at First Data Merchant Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    The salary was good for the area and the position. Two weeks vacation, personal days and sick days from the date of employment although how I believe there is a 60-90 day waiting period.

    Cons

    Minimal to no internal advancement positions, a great deal of open positions were hired externally especially management. No raises or bonuses based on company performance for hourly employees and the years they did give raises it was in the range of 1% - 1.5%. Health insurance is really expensive.

    Advice to Management

    Look for talents inside the company. Help more with employees paying their health insurance premiums. Stop taking away time off.

    I worked at First Data Merchant Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Bonus possibilities, good benefits, good training, rules are very thoroughly explained. If you do what they tell you, your reviews will be solid and the work isn't all that hard. They offer opportunities to learn and grow for all the employees who are interested.

    Cons

    It's a call center, so the schedules are very tight and the rules are pretty strict about breaks. Sometimes it takes a while to get a decent schedule.

    Advice to Management

    Keep providing as much support as you can to employees, helping them succeed if they desire to do so.
