I have been working at First Hawaiian Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are super nice, it's very easy to connect with them.
Pace of work is "chill". I have never felt pressured.
    Managers care about you, really!
    Expectations are low.

    Cons

    - While many of the employees are smart and managers seem passionate about the company, most people in IT department lack competence. This is not their fault. Unfortunately, the leadership cannot recognize competence and it is therefore not incentivized.
    - Technology here belongs to 1990s, maybe early 2000s.
    - Pay is seriously sub-par. If you are offered a position, negotiate!

I worked at First Hawaiian Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Benefits: Dental, Health, Vision, 401K, etc.
-Starting pay was $15/hours for tellers.

    Cons

-Required to work on Saturdays and 10.5 hours on Fridays.
    -Push for referrals.
-6 month long probation period for new Tellers.
-Inconsistent management styles especially in regards to procedures and policies.
    -Outdated software.
-Lack of access to customer information that would actually enhance customer service, but held back to give more duties to other useless positions.
-Terrible credit/debit card support. Required to contact other department in regards to credit card information. Connects us literally to the same department customers call, wait times to get a hold of the department could take more than 15 minutes.

    Personal Experience:
The assistant manager at the branch I worked at was a complete joke. Incredibly difficult to work with. He was so bad, every other branch knows about him and have made negative comments about his style. No one in my branch liked him, the trainers didn't like him, everyone just tolerated him. Rather than answering your question, he would ask the same question back to you in a sarcastic way. Who does this? The policies required us to get approval from him, and he always made a big deal about it. How is this clown even a manager? He constantly harassed me and talked down to me I am surprised.

I worked at First Hawaiian Bank full-time

    Pros

Excellent brand with strong relationships throughout community. Colleagues are nice, dedicated, and have been at the company a long time.

    Cons

Old school managers and management structure keeps this a very local bank. Hard to attract mainland talent with such dated leadership styles.

    Advice to Management

Get out of the very "old school" mentality you have and learn how to lead, manage, and build a modern team with top millenials and mainlanders.
