I worked at First International Bank & Trust (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is very invested in its employees. I have never worked somewhere that I loved as much as FIBT.

    Cons

The company is only located in three states, so moving away from one of those states forces resignation.

I have been working at First International Bank & Trust full-time

    Pros

Training is very valued. Management wants new employees to succeed and do well. Employees are set up for success and given options to take additional online and in person trainings.

    Cons

Health care options could be improved and a tad more generous. 401k plan takes many years to vest but understandable that the bank wants employees that it invests time and effort in to reap the benefits of making a career at the bank.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the emphasis on training.

I worked at First International Bank & Trust full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

FIBT encourages all employees to further their education in the banking business. They offer opportunities to attend banking schools, training seminars, and in-house learning experiences. The working environment is very cohesive and conducive to maximum productivity at all levels of banking. Great place to work and advance in a banking career!

    Cons

There are no cons to working at FIBT. It was a great place to work. I only left to join the family business, otherwise I would still be there today.

    Pros

The customers that came in were always a great challenge, and the sense of comradery with other employees in the same position.

    Cons

Poor upper management, they were only focused on the numbers instead of customer and employee satisfaction. Little to no advancement opportunities available.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect, show them that they are a valued part of the team. Always remember that the tellers are the ones who interact with the customers the most, they are the face of the company, so be sure to keep them happy and well paid to prevent so much turnover.

I have been working at First International Bank & Trust full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I get to contribute on a daily basis. I can shape the direction of the bank with my contributions, and I have plenty of growth opportunity. You have to put yourself out there, come up with ideas and solutions to fix problems, and you will be respected for doing that.

    Cons

I have worked for many different types of organizations, big corporate to small family owned. I can honestly say this is the best place I have ever worked. Every place I have worked, including here, have had their cons, but the benefits and autonomy that is in place here far outweigh any minimal cons. It would be nit-picky to point anything out.

    Advice to Management

Great family to work for. They really care!

I worked at First International Bank & Trust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good place to get experience, but forget a long term career in IT. This is where you go to get some experience. If you take it in that context its great. The owner of the bank is a great guy to listen to outstanding to work for. Its those under him that are a problem

    Cons

Most of upper management even IT are absentee landlords, who show up in emails from time to time but generally never show any real interest other than to lead witch hunts against IT staff for precised wrongs. Even when bank staff lie on you, (this happens a lot and even when you have documentation and user emails and voicemails to prove the staffer lied on you openly there are no repercussions to that staffer.) Middle management is even worse, they do nothing for career development or anything other than knit pick looking for anything to discipline you for. There is never any rewards for dedication or hard work or attempts at innovation. I have seen other members of IT screamed at and verbally abused and talked down to and called things that are not only insulting but actionable. I also know of one other occasion when a staffer threatened to lie to another IT staff member in order to get him to do something for her that was not in his purview as a IT member.

    Advice to Management

    Complete replacement of IT management.

    Pros

    Flexible work schedule. Good benefits.

    Cons

Most managers work with their doors closed and do not interact with staff. Management will not allow suggestions for improvement from staff. Poor staff moral
