    Pros

Nice people with a good enviroment.

    Cons

CORE LEAVE- make you take a 2 week vacation even if you have not been there a year. Started off with 15 days of vacation and 10 had to be used at once. Setup to fail. How can a person only use 5 days for an entire year?

The pay is not too well. The give a bonus every year which is okay, i guess.

    Advice to Management

Do not make a person who has not been there an entire year take the CORE LEAVE.

Downsizing. 1 person to run teller line and drive thru. Management doesn't care about employees who work hard Favoritism. Will let customers wait

    Advice to Management

Poor Management Need to work together. Some managers do nothing except keep their door closed and ignore employees and customers

    Pros

Vacation time, so I would not be at work. Loved most of my customers, and was the hardest part of my decision to leave.

    Cons

Management, Sales environment, back office support from corporate NY, regional sales managers. No appreciation for what you did, even though you would meet all your sales goals you would still be harassed by management to do more. So glad I no longer work there.

    Advice to Management

Maybe you should try and do a little work, instead of always " coaching" the employees

I worked at First Niagara Financial full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Salary! I enjoyed working with people who had been in the business for a very long time. I was always learning something new.

    Cons

Constant movements in management caused negativity with employees and unwelcome changes. The overall atmosphere of the job after some of these changes was negative. All employees in my office were VERY unhappy when I left.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to changes, peoples entire lives are affected by these changes. One person in the wrong position can cause serious loss of talent.

    Pros

The company has acceptable benefits and holidays, bonus and yearly merit.

    Cons

Company does not seem to promote within or try to develop employees along the way so they will a chance pursue their career goals and be more satisfy with what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

Company should value its employees and use good talents. Promote continous internal development in functional as well as leadership training. This will give employees a sense of satisfaction in their jobs, a loyalty to work for the company, and a proud attitude in representing the company to promote the company's products and services to their clients. This will make make to employ work harder as this is the job they love.

I have been working at First Niagara Financial full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers. At one time, our department had their own corporate culture, and it was fantastic. Advancement within your own area is extremely possible, despite what others say here.

    Cons

Sigh... well, having lived through the HSBC conversion and coming out (mostly) intact: the micromanagement of employees, the fact that we were outright told to LIE to customers, the policies that are broken one minute and enforced the next... all very horrible.

Additionally, the bank has begun using a temp agency to fill certain positions, leading to training groups of twenty that have no idea what to do, and that can easily dispose of half themselves within a months time.

Also? The pay is not nearly enough.

    Advice to Management

Try actually evaluating the quality of the people you hire instead of just mass hiring. It might help. Also, before promoting people, see how they do with employee engagement.

I worked at First Niagara Financial full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Benefits. 100% coverage. Decent vacation package.

    Cons

Management plays favorites from top down.
Fired some people for "policy violations" but not others for same "violations".
    Cutthroat environment.
"Diversity" value prevents the company from firing under-performing employees"

    Advice to Management

Get your act together or I wouldn't be surprised to see reverse discrimination lawsuits on the horizon.
